CEO and Director of Football are two completely different jobs. Even though they're hierarchical, if Edu wanted the CEO job, then that means he was no longer fit for his current role. That should have been a clear indication his head was possibly already turned and should have been let go in the summer to better the club's recruitment in the summer.
