I think the last line of the last verse: "the Kool aid is done, who stays and who runs" is a reference to the jonestown massacre, where they put cyanide in Kool aid for a pretty forced suicide, those who stayed died a painful death from cyanide, those who ran had thought they were in the clear until they were shot just before boarding the aeroplane out.

SnewL Not entirely true, the airstrip massacre was because of the local state senator visiting to see if Jonestown was a threat, it was classed as safe and then some of the people who wished to leave were then shot at the airstrip before boarding the plane, only after this were the rest of the covenant taken into the middle of the town and told to commit ‘revolutionary suicide’.
