@@user-lv1qm1cg9k As an engineering student, yes you do use Pythagoras theorem. It is used in many engineering applications. For example, calculating the tension on strings/chains with an attached weight which can let you know how much weight it can handle, it is linked with newtons laws of forces. NASA use it to calculate navigational flight patterns and GPS wouldn't be possible without it. Civil engineers use it to design slopes on roofs and truss structures etc. have a look around at things and think whether an engineer has used Pythagoras to design it. These kids need to be taught why the things they are learning in school can be potentially used in real life depending on their careers choices, rather than thinking their education is "pointless" otherwise they'll never learn.

She absolutely, has a point there. I never saw any point in most of the bull I had to sit through in School, especially, RE, tripple sciences, English and Maths, because yes, very good question indeed, when the heck would you need to remember the different shapes of triangles, different types of other shapes, square routes, fractions, Algebra, equations, times tables in Maths? William Shakespeare... all of his plays in English... where I just deliberately slept through that and RE where we were reading treasury tagged booklets of fairy stories made out by the teachers, discussing this bull, that bull, the other bull which will never ever, be part of anybody's adult lives, plus, I don't believe, despite being christened c of e age 11 months in October 1984 when I sadly, had no say in the matter. Religeon is basically, why we have all this conflict, terror, people not getting along very well in this world. I turned my back on god and the not so good book when I quit compulsory religeous Education post Secondary School and moved on to College and the rest of my life which is purely optional. Science? When is anybody likely to be a scientist ever again since Noah's Ark? answer: nobody in their right blimming minds! I'm also binge watching these docububbles 20 years later, having scraped gCSE passes by way of keyskills multiple choice later on when I went to College, now age 36, I'm still not working, I'm still not sure which direction i can go or which direction I want, to go in life, jobwise. All I do know, since I'm also disabled, legally blind, I don't want to work, ever, because that would mean I'm 3 grand worse off on minimum wage if I work more than 16 hours per week, so bang goes a roof over my head. Council housing isn't an option for me since I also have an assistance dog who needs a garden... so... its an even longer story than that really.

One thing I’ve noticed about educating Cardiff is that the students are often told ‘well you better go home then if you’re not going to do x’ or the students are able to decide for themselves if they want to be in school or not and can go to the office and say ‘I’m going home, please phone my mum’. That’s really weird to me, because I went to school in Scotland and england, and my children go to an English school and that would NEVER happen. Your head could be hanging on by a string and they’d still think about whether you really needed to go home or not, and if a student was to say ‘I’m going home now because I don’t wanna be here’ the teachers would laugh in their face. Is it a welsh thing or just a this school thing?

@@Toffee146 it can affect your learning though. Why are you disagreeing with someone who is autistic? They obviously know better. Having sensory issues can make classrooms difficult to remain in and it can affect your attention span. The world is not built for neurodiverse minds so until it works for us then yes it is a disability and not just the mind working difficult. Not to mention that asd also can affect you physically too

I wish I'd gone to either, Willows or Passmores in Harlow, Essex which is the first Educating series on this channel, or even Thornhill Accademy. I love more or less all of the teachers there, whereas I was stuck with either staying at one institution and boarding, living away from home amongst a lot of mental health struggles, plus I was slated by a lot of the teachers and pastoral care staff all the way through Secondary, or bullied mercilessly, because I was overweight compared to some of the more insecure people in my year groups, plus I was more visually impaired than they (, fact, I was totally blind and the ones who could see a bit or had even better eyesight still, they both physically and mentally tortured me. or going even further away to a better special needs School with its own sixth form, complete with accomodation, so if I hadn't got only 3 GCSEs, I would have been at that place for 8 years of study, not just 7. I retook Maths, English Etc, instead of moving on to sixth form, but it didn't turn out much better.
