I have been prescribed 3 hydrocodone (7.5) a day for about 20 years. give or take. Always took them as told by the doctor. I have major issues with my back which surgery is not an option. Too dangerous. When obamacare came into play my dr of 16 yrs closed his practice and gave me a list of referrals. I purposely put the list away and did not take a pain pill for a solid year. Mainly just to prove to myself I wasn't addicted. Fast forward to 2014 I was hit by a huge jeep while walking across the street. Broken ribs, crack pelvis, cracked bones on the left side of my body where the jeep hit. Knocked me 8' in the air and when I came down it was concrete. The force shoved my stomach up under my broken ribs. It was a year I will never forget. I had little choice but to follow up (after the hospital) with one of the dr's i had on my referral list. So I am at a loss when folks talk about addiction. It's mind over matter and lots of prayer. Elohim is the great healer. Of. Body. And. Mind.

doctors don't put the medicine in peaples mouth, it's the addicts that abuse it , it very sad, but there are some peaple that are injured and live in chronic pain, it is very sad that the people who need it, that don't abuse it, but we have to suffer because of the addicts that abuse it

how are the injured supposed to function in excruciating pain, im sorry that the addicts abuse the medicine, that the people who need it and don't abuse it, but we have to suffer because of the addicts, some people are severely chronic pain and we have to suffer because of the addicts that abuse it, the doctors try to help the injured, it is not the doctors​ fault that people abuse it, they are not forcing the medicine down their fault that the addicts abuse it , the doctors​ are not putting in their mouth, that might be the addicts that abuse the medicine

well. look at wisdom teeth removal medication. Usually hydrocodone 5mg's. i think either 15-20-25 pills i believe. And they prescribe so much even though you only need it for a couple days if not even. usually high strength ibuprofen will do the job. So what happens is that there is leftover medication and people become curious ( a lot of the time teenagers/ young adults ). Keep in mind doctors say to lock up medication and for children or even others not to get a hold of it. Its where those curious people, or desperate, try pills once and they become addicted all because the meds are laying around. People usually just don't go straight to the street for opiates, it starts at getting them from doctors and having meds left around or people straight up becoming addicted and not being able to stop after being prescribed them. It is a different story for people who have chronic pain. I know a lot of doctors that will prescribe more opiates than neccessary for instance, I know someone who has chronic migraines and was prescribed 100 mcg/h fentanyl patch, with lots of dilaudid, and 240mg of oxycontin a day. ALL together. When you may just need to be on a small dose of opiates. Its the over prescription of pain killers that are fucking over people.
