True. I have seen been in Aviation Industry that people are ashamed of talking in Hindi or regional language just because they are at airport or interacting with airport staff. We must encourage to speak in our native language or language understood by the person whenever possible and must not discourage who cannot speak English. If we look at other countries in europe and Russia they have preserved their languages pretty well.

I support native language use in our education system . English language use only subjective. Other competitive exams and employment English language qualifying marks and all official work do in native language because offices in india, not in England so use only native language in our working area & all official documents in native language . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

namaskaram Sadhguru, The questioner sought to know if the medium of education should be in our languages or English...I think we should educate our children in our languages as the medium of instruction. Across the world, many countries preserve and develop their languages. They develop technologies and apps in their languages. China is a case in point. However, we're behaving as if our existence will be wiped out if we don't have English medium education. In Andhra Pradesh, the government wants compulsory English medium in all Government schools. But why? It is such a regressive step. The child would not understand well and I'm not sure how happy the teachers are to teach in English. overall, the government sees it as a popular measure and misguides the people into believing that jobs would come only through English medium. It's very important for gurus to explain the catastrophes that await our country if we don't use our languages as medium of instruction. Why should we limit our languages only to poetry, plays and home conversations? As someone who advocates limitless possibilities, why are you suggesting that we restrict our languages to culture and conversations at home? Just 200 years ago, Indian languages were used for science, technology, commerce, culture and every other aspect of human life before the British education took over our country to enslave us. Why should we not get it back when many countries in the world are doing very well without excessive dependence on English. If "make in India" is a step of self reliance, using our languages across all fields and sections widely and unapologetically is also being self reliant. English can be learnt as a language, but why should we learn "through" English. English can be this "other" language that Indian children learn while they get educated in their mother tongue. There is no modern country on the planet that does not use its own language in its education system. How can you have a great civilization if you do not use your own languages in something as fundamental as education? Take a look at any succesful non-English speaking nation, not one uses English as the primary language. English should be learned as a skill, certainly, but not as the basic means of communication. As for the Englishl vocabulary in science, economy etc? It's all taken from Greek and Latin, there is no original English word. We could do the same and modernise our languages by reusing Sanskrit and Tamil words.

@@srinidhi7140 Hi Srinidhi. Good point, Sanskrit and Tamil are just examples. I just wanted to highlight that English is not essential for modern science and such disciplines as English has taken all its scientific words from Greek and Latin. And our oldest languages are Sanskrit and Tamil.

I agree to disagree with his view point- Making English as necessity of Indian ecosystem ( education, commerce, governance and up to some level - Communication) has not let Indians to be Leaders in world. Due to this, we are left as workers/labour but not leaders ! English, American, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Italian and many other nations always emphasised on using their national /native language, and they are able to produce better world leaders in every field, while Indians are always followers! Other important aspect is "Language and thoughts" - majority of Indians think in native language and then translate in English to express their thoughts/views. In this manner, thoughts/views are not expressed in full or not with required emphasis. At least it takes a lot of time and effort to master this and this process demoralise lot of people. I agree with his point that New generation is loosing our roots. All regional languages are malingered with English, and we are loosing /destroying part of our rich culture. Hindi was made as National language, but possibly never adapted due to regional differences. There should be standards in school education system to learn regional Indian language apart from native mother tongue and English. People from North should be able to cross -communicate with people from South and vice versa. If we develop a better regional languages learning system it will improve unity among fellow Indians and make them learn more each other rather foreigners, an in turn better leaders!

@@srinidhi7140 the reason I would like to learn a language is to reach as many people around the world as possible. With that in mind, if I am a North Indian, knowing Hindi would help me across a good chunk of India, English would help me across most of India and the world as well. If I am to learn a third language, I would go for Spanish or French to reach even more people. Putting the effort to learn Kannada, Telugu, Tamil or Malayalam would not interest me at all because of limited geographical scope where I could get by with English/Hindi.
