1:18:38 In a company, all productive labour produces value but people only appropriate from that labour based on the capital they advance. In other words: You contribute to society according to the labour you employ, while you take from society according to the capital you advanced.

Pretty sure Zuboff's Surveillance Capitalism explores exactly what Harvey suggests towards the end.

If you're working a dead-end job, you should try to be as unproductive a worker as possible, kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXiyaZmnq7OCbZo . 1:42:40 This is exactly why we will never be able to truly address climate change without first dismantling capitalism.

The medical example is ridiculous. The reason why heart-related ailments have had more medical advancement is because orders of magnitude more people will suffer from heart problems in their life (rich and poor) than will have sickle-cell disease. These issues are also lower-hanging fruit than the world of genetics which has been much harder to solve. We only recently have even fully mapped out the human genome. As if the proletariat doesn’t suffer from heart problems either, or that there’s no bourgeoise with sickle cell disease.
