The underrepresentation of women in politics is a significant issue that impedes the progress of gender inequality and limits the diversity of perspectives in the decision-making processes. Bella Mun, a year 12 student, shares with the TEDxYouth@Canberra audience the barriers that women face in politics and the importance of having women in positions that lead change.
Bella is committed to advocating for gender equality, specifically within the political sphere. Her commitment to this cause stems from a firm belief that women should be equally presented and have opportunities to participate in all aspects of politics, from policymaking to leadership positions. In her talk, Bella aims to raise awareness of the barriers faced by women in politics and to inspire other young women to pursue their dreams of making a difference in the world.
Bella is an aspiring changemaker who is passionate about advocating for women’s rights and a pioneer of Canberra Girls Grammar School’s latest initiative; The House, Women in Politics and Government. Despite growing up in a single-sex school, Bella is acutely aware of the gender inequality that exists in every corner of the globe and believes that only through the realm of politics can that inequality be resolved. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
