I have a question. Why is a degree absolutely necessary as a precursor? A person can pursue the certifications and be just as good. I mean no IT degree in the world teaches all those technologies to be a well rounded Big Data Engineer, as you have shown it takes quite a bit of technical knowledge of the numerous technologies. Your thoughts.

Hi Jason! A degree is not essential, however, industries look for professionals who at least posses certifications and good number of projects on their resume.
