We are creatures of nature. Like squirrels or birds, we humans have our own nature, it makes us what we commonly are. To say that groups of people prefer the company of people who are very like them is not a value judgment -- it isn't an 'ism.' It simply is. Baboons don't hang out with lowland gorillas. We humans are far far happier when we learn to live with our nature, not fight against it. Reach out to all. Hug your own.

It's also about shared cultural reference points. I've lived and worked in Asian countries and notice time and again the expat staff hang out together, and the bond is often stronger amongst those of the same nationality. No one is being deliberately cliquey but you naturally find you have more in common with those of a similar background. It can take a conscious effort to break out of that pattern and form meaningful friendships with people native to that country.

I think it's mostly attributed to nothing more than social pressure. Most people over the past 2 decades grow up, entirely inculcated into the metropolitan, cosmopolitan, hyper-urban, default-liberal monoculture, and it becomes the *_aesthetic with which all your friends have adorned themselves in as well lol._* And so most people espouse this desperation to preserve it, not because they actually care about preserving it, but because they're just experiencing social pressure that is warning them that if they don't tow this particular party line as it were, they're likely to face reputation destruction of some kind and be evicted from their peer groups, social circles, etc. I phrase it as *_"maintaining a reservation at the shit-lib cool kids table"_* lol. That's all I ever see when I hear people like this, squirm & writhe for the painfully obvious reasons they do, at the sight & sound of reality whenever they're met with it. Also indicative of the overwhelming effeminization of Western Civilization over the past several decades, now that our society abuses the classic tactics of female anti-social behavior whenever we're trying to enforce any sort of broader cultural conformity, that being the egregious abuse of reputation destruction. That's why Andrew feels so uncomfortable, he can feel his head being slowly pushed towards the guillotine, simply being in the same room with Edward Dutton as he's speaking these hyper-spicy truths the monoculture would NEVER tolerate lol. It's because he knows the monoculture would NEVER genuinely hear the facts Edward is speaking about.

We are tribal and on a sub concious level we have a bias/ preference towards the advancement of our own tribe.. If you look at the results / outcomes of the Athletics in the Olympics and World records held, could you make the claim that Black people are superior track athletes? If you can make that claim, why is it such a reach to make the claim that certain races are superior to others in other aspects of life? Why is it so controversial to say that one race or collective group/ tribe has a higher overall IQ then others? If we can acknowledge that a certain race is in general athletically superior why can't we acknowledge the possibility that a certain race could have a higher IQ collectively?

it is natural to be drawn to a more familiar group. I live in the uk for 15 years, however once i go to eastern Europe i feel so much easier to be around my own nationality people, it feels it is easier to open up to them, i feel energetic connection instantly (in comparison to other groups), they feel safer and friendlier to me. Biology always tells you what is natural actually. It is natural to be drawn to your own group because it is interconnected with similar conditioning, roots and values, even body rhythms, ( or character: e.g. some nations are known to be more introverted and others extroverted), closer genetic make up, it is definitely easier to understand and connect. I did connect with some British people of course and have friends, however it is Always easier for me to feel deeper connection with my own people, and it is on subconscious level . so i do not think we should fight our nature.

I am really curious about his study that produced the results that people of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage have a higher average IQ than the General Population, because (If Ture) I am really interested in the reasons for that. Is it because of how small the population group of Ashkenazi Jews are, as well as in combination with a culture that values high academic achievement and learning? Because it definitely seems those two factors are vital for this aberration to occur. For example if your were taking the average IQ of The Han Chinese Population the shear number and varied economic and social differences between this large Population, would have to have a negative correlation to average IQ scores, even though the Han Chinese also have a culture that values education. I'll have to read his study and see if his research shows any such correlation.
@benh715

I’ve seen some stuff about this elsewhere (can’t remember I’m afraid). East Asian IQ is higher than white which is higher than black. Ashkenazi Jews are top of the average IQ. Interestingly, the range of IQ in whites is broader than East Asians, so whites have proportionally more dumb people and more smart people. Why that is 🤷‍♂️

Why yes, I do instinctively feel more warmth, comfort and trust around people of my culture and my ancestral background for the same reason that I instinctively prefer my relatives. This is called in-group preference or nepotism and it's natural and rational since its evolutionarily a successful strategy to help those who are more genetically similar to yourself. It's also good and beautiful. What could be more good and beautiful than love between family members? BTW every other race of people actually feels more in-group preference than white people, who are the most individualistic and colourblind. You can see this from the ANES 2018 pilot survey.

It's not about negatively reacting to specific different skin pigmentation per se, but negatively reacting to people that clearly don't look like you, which instinctively implies they're not part of your tribe and so they're intruders that might want to take over and destroy you (if you're a male) or grape you (if you're a female). It could be just a different hair colour, a different way of clothing themselves that triggers the individual into thinking they are outsiders and therefore intruders. For the longest time humans lived in small tribes that had to protect themselves from each other.

this seems like a nature vs nurture case. Are we naturally predisposed to this amygdala response, or is this socially/ environmentally primed? It seems more plausible that this is an environmentally based phenomena, and that people not used to seeing different people will have a stronger response, and people who live in a diverse community would have less so. Therefore, I think he strongly conflates a) a recognition of what we can call 'other', and b) a biologically rooted negative response to 'other'. I think he needs to argue more convincingly that these two are tied together. Ultimately, I suspect if you were to do his amygdala experiment on people who have been brought up and live among people who don't resemble them, we would find their response is similar to the original response to indigenous people.
