It's unfortunate they had to dumb it down a lot for the model, if you don't know the production only had one model of each character and couldn't afford to break it so they couldn't show it as it was meant to be from the book with the side rod breaking and puncturing the boiler walkway I think it is.

Season 2 remake, by the way the creator had to update his exploit skin to make it look like the railway series not the television series anymore
