"After years of the LA party lifestyle and subsequent drug addiction, Ebert wanted to make a change. He broke up with his then-girlfriend, moved out of his house, and did a couple of stints in rehab. He spent a year sleeping on a blow-up mattress in a tiny apartment, disconnected from the world. This time alone left him to contemplate Edward Sharpe." Sounds pretty genuine to me. Who says you have to be born who you are?

How the hell does this woman piss anyone off? Look at her. She's pouring her entire self into this song. Every ounce of what makes her what she is is coming out within these five minutes. That's the great thing about music. You completely lose yourself in it and be who you truly are, without caring. I like this version the most mainly because of her expressions, it just makes the song. And I'm guessing if you people don't like her you'll all hate early Joe Cocker live.

I know that she had a drug problem, but he was coming down on her heavy. You can even hear him say I want to talk to you or I will talk to you. She is shaking her head no like a child and then starts to whistle to bring him into her world, which is what made him change into being into her world and start whistling as well.. I remember being in this world of drugs and how you could co-host anybody to see things your way even if it's just for a moment

I can see this girl dancing down a path or singing spontaneously outloud where ever she might be. Very inhibited person. Free spirit. Funny how when people behave like this,they are classified as "hippies." Or they "become" hippies. Can't anyone from any walk of life be free spirited, and not be labeled as a "hippy?" Just thinking...

in this video Jade is high and the other band members know it and so thats why they aren't as energetic, they want to make sure everything goes smoothly (which I'd say it does.) I'm not 100% sure what she's high on but I heard a rumor that they just kicked her out of the band for doing heroine
@ilovegoth7 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I know they kicked her out but she never seemed high to me when I saw her. She seemed special, like maybe OCD or something. My hunch was she was kicked out because Edward thought of her as a cute sidekick and when he realized many took her for the real musician, he wanted her gone. Either that or he cheated on her and so he wanted to move on. These were just my musings.

ilovegoth That could be it... or you could be making up a romantic story in your head while slandering the name of someone else to enable the actions of someone who is clearly strung out on hard drugs. that could be it aswell. just my thoughts.
@siren36537 жыл бұрын
Hmm ... don't believe all the rumors you hear! Jade and Alex had a relationship for about 9 years - she was an integral part of the band. He got someone pregnant about a year before they kicked her out. My guess - baby mama didn't like the idea of them spending so much time together on tour. So who got the boot? Did she have drug problems? Possibly ... how would you feel if the person you loved and created music with got another woman pregnant? Maybe she didn't take it well. All I know is that it was JADE who made this band so special. Her voice is unparalleled, and her energy is very unique. Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes have not done well without her. She can do so much more, and I hope she does.

So sweet this song is sad they aren’t together anymore . She definitely brings a certain energy that is contagious. I bet he misses her . My husband showed me this song because one day before I ever heard this song he asked me what he makes me feel like I said Home . Then soon after he showed me this song and I have loved it ever since . She needs to be in the band period. Not sane band with out that happy energy . I wish they would do the original story when he says hi Jade should be story of how she aloft broke her ass falling out his window 🤷♀️ He is very good looking

That's a romantic♥introduction to a beautiful band, Lucky you Girl* The NPR Tiny Desk Concert was my introductory performance of the band too. But my introduction didn't have anything as interesting as yours. When I watch past performances of the band I get all emotional and often have to dry my eyes. Such a captivating emotional presence the band draws me into (like the "Tractor Beam" from Star Trek) Lieutenant Sulu, we have the vessel in tow Captain. . .

Some comments are silly. Artists are different type of people. They are not like everyone else. They feel different they speak different they perceive the world differently and they can create because they are who they are. It sure looks like some disorder or drugs, but I think it's just their performance because the execution of music is consistent. You can see that they act differently in between songs. Amy Winehouse was on drugs and alcohol and you could tell.
@BarbyWrld71711 жыл бұрын
okay, after observing this video closely *adjusts nerd glasses* i've come to realize that Jade does seem like she is under the influence..in the beginning between .2 and.3 seconds you notice Alex whisper something into her ear which i could not decipher when playing it back...lol....fuck it ..so basically my theory is jade is drugged up, alex says calms down...you see how tense his face looks throughout the song.when the dialogue part of the song comes up ,they don't go through with it giving me

This is what I don't get, people here are complaining about the backgrounds of people in the band. Why are you you complaining about their past? I loved this song before I found out about the history, but I like the song, and that's all that really matters, doesn't it? I mean, I'm not into country but if George Canyon came out with a song I like, I wouldn't complain. People grow, situations change, people change.
