Youre laughing but what is wrong with having an objective standard to judge by? Is that so much to ask? It doesn't take long. Swab him, make him wash it off, if it comes back with anything illegal, suspend him. It's really not that complicated. They were doing that with the gloves and it seems they stopped. They got results the same day. And think of it like this, Diaz got caught... how many are cheating and the umpires are just saying saying it isn't sticky enough this time.

Scherzer was coming out of an inning and headed to the pen. It was reasonable to think it MAY have been legally used rosin mixed with sweat. Diaz was coming out of the pen and had yet to go to the mound, so there is no chance it was LEGALLY used rosin mixed with sweat. That's why he didn't get the opportunity to wash it off. It was clear he was guilty of violating a rule, where Scherzer had room for a different interpretation.

I still talk to fans who act like the stickey stuff is a new thing... Why dont yall go back to some interviews with say... Whitey Ford. He was asked if he used stuff and yes, he said he did. He admitted it. Hes in the HOF by the way for those not in the know. Now this is in the 50s and 60s !!!!. This stuff has been in the game for decades !!! This isnt a new thing. Its how were "handling" this now, is a new thing. How many pitchers are out this year ? How many STAR pitchers are out this year with injuries ? Some... actually most getting TJ surgery. Some for the 2nd time. Im not gonna claim the pitch clock has everything to do with this, but the pitchers no longer can step back and take a deep breath when needed. This is = injuries. Now guys are trying to find a way to pitch without hurting themselves and its using this stuff to try to get the ball to do what a normal un doctored ball would do when thrown at their full strength. This is just how i look at this. I dont imagine people will agree, but its a valid point. We have ball players in the HOF from pitchers to hitters, that "cheated" going by MLB standards. But the later players to do the same such thing are not allowed into the HOF... well a few have (which is hilarious to me, David Ortiz anyone?). When the MLB was in the dumps, it was saved by juicing. Remember that. Because if we continue down this road... this games gonna lose even more fans to a degree. People want to SEE things happen and we have an MLB that is controlling every aspect of the game to a degree where the action is out of it. I know im all over the map with this, but re read what i said above and youll see theres quite a few points im making here.

Pitch clock and sticky stuff have nothing to do with the injuries. Pitchers hurt there arms more in the modern game for a very basic reason. They are throwing it harder and putting more spin on the ball, both of which put incredible strain against the arm.
@ctcards263629 күн бұрын
@@snerdterguson Did you read my whole post ? Seems like ya didnt. I already know that they are making pitchers throw harder (and at a younger age than ever) and thats the reason for injuries. I even said i dont think its the pitch count...

From what I remember, the umpires asked the people who had too much rosin to wash the rosin off their hands. The umpire stated that it was clearly not rosin.

Why can't you guys in the media get some of these owners or MLB executives on your show and hit them with these very questions regarding some of these rules. You talk to us fans as if we know the answers and yet its you all who have the power to get some sense from all of this.

That rule is bs it's rozin with dirt

But since he hadn't even gone to the mound, he had used rosin somewhere other than the mound, which is the only place you can use it.

How is him literally saying "Diaz is likely guilty" defending Diaz? Lol. Two things can be true; Diaz can get caught cheatong and the rule can be far too arbitrary. Think of it this way, Diaz got caught, how many are cheating and just don't get caught because a handful of umps say it isn't sticky enough. What if Diaz was telling the truth and the umps got it wrong? Now you're suspending an innocent player while others are getting away with it. It's messy. That's the point.
