This is honestly such a bad move and completely embarrassing. The negro leagues were like double a or high a compared to the mlb and the stats were not tracked as accurately. Pandering to black people like they are special needs. You can have them in the hof and celebrate the players, but this is changing history. Everyone in media has to say this is great and name the only 5 good players from the league or risk being called racist

Lindor has the worst AVE with RISP on the team. Lindor has a .249 AVE after 3 1/2 years as a Met. Lindor's WAR is 0.9 this season. Lindor has NOT made an All Star team as a Met. So he is an overpaid defensive shortstop. Bat him 6th or 7th. Stop coddling him like he is some superstar. HE IS NOT! Sit him a few times a month. Tell him he will get moved up if he performs.

It's going to take a couple of years for the Mets to turn things around and for the prospects to prove themselves. There will be a fire sale and Cohen and co are going to try to fleece teams for the best prospects. This year and probably next year are a wash. Cohen needs to realize that his money can only do so much.

Don by his own admission, hates math, because he was bad at it in school, and is to this day. And since the "advanced" stats in baseball require slightly more than basic math skills to understand, he hates them, hates all analytics, and their influence on baseball. Because heaven forbid games evolve, or data be used to maximize player effectiveness. We should just hope that our team lucks into hiring a manager with "gut" and "instincts" to make the best moves to allow the team to win, and players should be evaluated same that they were in 1988.

Just because they weren’t allowed doesn’t mean they should be put on the leaderboard because of guilt. Yes some of them probably definitely would have been in the mlb but that’s not to say their stats would have stayed the same it’s a what if you can’t have Josh Gibson there above everyone when he didn’t compete against them it’s not legitimate. There are better ways to recognize the black players than to try an alter history

Negro leagues in exhibitions were 30 games above .500 vs MLB. Like 9 players from negro leagues won the MVP from 1942 to the mid 1960’s. Also, let’s be real, integrating a league wasn’t fun back then players were subjected to treatment due to segregation that may have impacted their play.

The problem with going w these young kids is you don't know what you'll get. So like you said you'll be bad for 2-3 years and then what??? Trade them for young prospects again?? This is Baty 3rd year (2nd full year) and I don't see anything that makes me Wana say he's the future. No kid in or farm is having a good year. I don't want to give the rookies a chance bc then in 3 years (if they don't prove themselves) we are back to square one. The problem with Cohen is he wasted and spent money on wrong players (2 40+ year old at 43 million (which most likely would have gotten 30 million tops), giving Lindor a contract and signing older players. Letting Joey Cora and Wayne go was a bad idea, hiring a rookie manager. This Franchise has too many holes and it will get a lot worse before it gets better. We had to watch the Dodgers spend 1.2 Billion in the off-season, yet the richest owner in baseball aka Mets spent squat. Had to watch Yankees make a move for Soto, the Padres makes moves, The Rangers. This franchise is abysmal and won't watch till 2030.

The only pushback that's at all legit is that the record books were notoriously inaccurate in the NGL. But the benefits of doing this are far more than any negative. Putting these stats up there bring them to a whole new generation, and it IS important that people understand how we got where we are today. So even if we can't really know if .372 is his legit average, we can at least know that Gibson was an exceptional ballplayer. And one of the more tragic figures in baseball history, having died young and right around the time Jackie got signed by Brooklyn. Had he lived, he almost certainly would have been one of those brought in by other teams in the years right after Jackie. So anyone seriously complaining, tell them to kick rocks.

@Dr.Frankensteen
@Dr.Frankensteen 17 сағат бұрын
No it's legitimate to say that even if the books were accurate, they never posted those numbers in MLB so the chances of them being close to the same are very slim. If you include their numbers, you have to include Nippon as well as official MLB stats which makes Ichiro the All time leading hitter in MLB history as well has double the homeruns, nearly double the RBIs, etc.

The only way the Mets can be a great team again is to get rid of the deadwood, play the kids, and hopefully, they will get enough talent back to put together a decent young team. Going after free agents or trading for veteran players makes no sense. This is going to be a bad team for two to three years, but Sterns can turn things around. Look at what he accomplished with the Brewers.

Lost all credibility when you suggested Boras would drop Soto for not chasing an extra 10 million. As if Boras would drop his GENERATIONAL talent. Boras is there to do what is best for his client and what his client wants. If Soto wants to take the pay cut, Boras still gets paid. Boras isn’t going to take 0 instead of his pay day. This guy is a clown. How many other 50 mil a year clients are out there bud? Not many. Goofy take 😂

The Yankees can pay Soto at least $55M. They're already paying 30. If they add 25 to the 40 that's coming off the books, they can sign him no problem. Steinbrenner can then pocket the other 15 or get some cheap pieces for depth. People keep making it sound like the Yankees can't be in on Soto. That's baloney!
