COMPLETE PRESENTATION EDWIN ROKS CEO Teledyne Industries. This is the complete presentation given on January 27th 2025, at the Optica Executive Reception in San Francisco: We welcomed over 360 guests, many of whom came to hear the insights from Dr. Edwin Roks, Chief Executive Officer of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated. He leads a company of over 14,000 employees, over 250 facilities worldwide and a market capitalization of approximately US $20 billion. In sharing this presentation, we aim to show how a very successful large tech company grows globally during uncertain and complex global geopolitics. With such a broad and influential tech portfolio, his company’s strategies and vision for acquiring new photonics and optics companies are worth watching. Of the 72 companies they acquired, none has been sold - for a reason. Part of the secret is that Edwin and his management teams have a deep understanding of a wide range of optical technologies. This video contains many examples of this - from women’s health, surveillance capabilities in defence, the James Webb Telescope, Edge Processing, Environmental monitoring, thermal cameras, gas leak detection, Multispectral Inspection, Maritime Instruments for harsh environments, etc.
This talk was given on a day when the global AI markets dramatically shifted because of the news concerning the Chinese company DeepSeek. In the Q&A session following Edwin’s talk, the audience asked how AI has affected Teledyne’s priorities? What must the Optics industry do to command larger shares of funds going to Semicon? What is his view on the various Chips Acts. (Edwin Roks shares examples in Canada where cooperation and synergies are far more efficient) Why do customers want Teledyne to focus on systems close to the sensor? Why does Teledyne partner with smaller companies but wait before considering an acquisition?
