I put one of those dry erase boards outside our door on our very first cruise- wrote on it that it was our first cruise, and lots of people left comments like “won’t be your last”, “enjoy” “hello from..” We even opened our door while someone was writing a message and startled them, but got to have a fun interaction with them in the process. It actually made it home intact and I saved it as a fun memory of our very first cruise.

We always (1) book at room next to the stairwell (aft), (2) decorate our door with something fun, and (3) put a white board on our door. LOTS of fellow cruisers will leave us a note saying "Thank you for decorating your door - when I come back late at night (either tired or drunk), I know I'm on the right floor when I see your door!" Hahahaha! We've also met lots of great people this way.

@@popbre3 we've been by the door/elevator before and I can honestly say I do not remember hearing them. I've heard loud people in the hall, but that can be in any room. It is so convenient to be by the stairs/elevator, we don't have small kids that could be woken up, so even if there is a bit of extra noise, it's worth it to us to book there. It literally makes the cruise feel like all the activities are right outside your door.

@Whit23ney6 жыл бұрын
L Hamilton hey, Happy New Year! It was amazing! We had so much fun we booked another cruise for this summer! The over the door shoe hanger was the best hack ever! Four people to a room was a breeze with this! Also, we brought command hooks (I didn’t know the over the door shoe thing came with hook so we were going to use it for that) and they worked brilliantly. I can’t tell you how many times we walked in and hung our lanyards, a light jacket, hats, necklaces, and just anything else on these command hooks that we placed all over the walls. They came down with ease and no damage at all to the walls. Might as well use all of the vertical space you have considering a lot of cabins are short on floor space. Your tip about unpacking and storing luggage under the beds was also invaluable. We packed about 20 hangers in our luggage as well!!! Worked out beautifully!

We have done laundry on a cruise. We both ended up having a very favorite day outfit and washed it mid cruise so we could wear it again. The theater is cold, sunburn or not. At least all the Carnival Cruises we've been on. All the RC cruises have been hot, hot rooms, hot restaurants and warm theater. I drink diet dr pepper like there is no other drink in the world. Carnival ships that leave out of New Orleans or Galveston serve Dr. Pepper now!!! I can't even tell you how exciting this to me!!! Also Carnival switched from Coke products to Pepsi drinks Jan 2020. So no more bland diet coke. Unfortunately they serve Pepsi zero, not diet Pepsi. The patches behind the ear are called scopolamine patches. Prescription only, so don't forget to schedule with your doctor with enough time to spare to get that rx filled.

They also now allow 12 bottles of non-alcoholic beverages that are 17 oz or less per stateroom. This of course is during original embarkation and not during port stops.

We usually don't carry a lot of these things, but Annette is all about carrying the medication items, just in case! One thing we're bringing on the next cruise we haven't had previously are the magnets! We have some strong ones that will be very useful! People should be careful with those white boards sometimes. They tend to attract random messages from anonymous people walking by your cabin.

I'll be going on my 2nd cruise in May 2020 on the Carnival Vista with my friend Rachel, who has never been on one. Let alone out of the country! She's super excited but nervous about everything. Thankfully I found your guys' channel a while back and have a whole arsenal for her to watch when it's time to. We will be going to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. The firsr cruise I was on, before I boarded the ship, I ended up with a double ear infection and had to get medicine in Mahogany Bay. I spent most days sleeping in my cabin but would wander the ship at night. Let me tell you something. I HIGHLY recommend exploring the ship in the evening when everyone's asleep. I sat out on the benches at both ends of the ship and oh my god it was breathtaking. I saw a lightning storm over Cozumel, watched the sunrise at 530am in Mahogany Bay, saw many a sunset. It was absolutely beautiful. I hope to convince my friend to join me in the early morning adventures.

Just came off a Holland America Line cruise. The corkage fee gets applied the moment the wine is carried on board.

Carnival will give you a corkscrew free if you ask the cabin boy

Buy screw top or boxed wines. They are just a good or better than cork and cork trees are becoming very scarce.

Ive been on 12 cruises and every time I watch a video I learn something new. I love the idea concerning the 'tide pods". I always do my laundry on a cruise ship but the laundry detergent that they sell in the laundry room is a little expensive. Great idea! Also the magnetic hooks. Another great idea. Great video, keep up the great work..

Great video. I leave next week on a Royal Caribbean cruise and wanted to let you know that they do allow one 12 pack of non-alchoholic beverage per stateroom to be brought on board.

Oh my goodness, you two are such an adorable couple. I love that you think of everything. My hubby found your video and showed it to me saying "Look, there is someone else that packs like u." Lol! Love it! I tell my hubby he will be thankful of my over packing the day we get stranded somewhere and we will be able to survive a month on our own.. Lol! Now does all this stuff have a bag of its own? How big is your suitcase?

Thanks for saying nightlight! Every time I go anywhere I take my nightlight with me to put in the bathroom just like I have here at home. That way I can find my way to the most important room in the middle of the night. Lol

Our first cruise was for our 15th anniversary, and Saturday we will leave on our 4th cruise, to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Another item to add, is a lint roller for the formal nights. We were at Walmart and were trying to remember if there was anything on you list that we needed, and decided that we should look up Jenni and the surfer dude when we got home. Well, we discovered it was Alisa and surfer dude, aka Jason. Now we are subscribed to your channel, so we can check out your other vids. Very helpful, thanks.

I am a Platinum cruiser with carnival and watch your videos for entertainment and to relive my cruises. A couple of things I take on my cruises is super glue or gorilla glue for broken sunglasses or glasses shoe repair and such. Witch stitchery for a hem comes out as you know most Carnival ships have Ironing boards and Irons so that is a quick fix for torn hems or other quick clothing repairs. the super glue is also good for women if they break a nail to repair it. Oh I put my suit on a hanger and put a large trash bag over it to travel once i get to the room I take tape and seal the bag around the top to the hanger and turn the shower as hot as it will get not so it will hit the bag but over it. After about 20 min I take it out take the bag off no wrinkles then leave it out to air out to dry out it isn't exactly wet but after it sets out a bit it settles. do the same with you wrinkled dress shirts. I bring 2 laundry bags instead of hampers one for clothing one for under clothes so{with platinum we get laundry service}it makes it easier to bag for pick up or to pack to do at home. We also take the back up chargers for our tablets and phones so when we are in port we always have one with us encase so we never have a dead battery.

I hate to change the memory cards in the camera. I always think that there is a chance of damaging the electrical contacts inside the camera that have to connect to the memory card. I bought a 128GB memory card for my camera since that is the largest card that the camera will allow. Now I make a point of dumping my camera to my laptop every day, and then I can reformat the card every day. On my laptop I then have a different folder for each day or port of call. I tend to take 300-400 pictures a day, at 24MP, so there is no chance that my memory card will ever fill up. My battery only last for 250 pictures, so I need 2-3 batteries a day. Make sure to have extra batteries and multiple chargers.

Love your tips!!! I’ve cruised a few times before, but always manage to forget something and end up having to purchase while overseas or on the ship. Thank you!!!

Note to everyone if you get sick don’t go to the on board doctor they will charge you and then sometimes they will move you to a different cabin and keep you away from people if you are contagious. But make sure you take some medicine you need and go to your local doctors a week or couple days before just to make sure your not sick and if you are you can pack medicine
