I haven’t read all of the comments but thought I would chime in about the origin of the domed terminal building. It was originally built to house the Hughes H-4 Hercules, more commonly known as The Spruce Goose, built as a prototype strategic airlift flying boat designed and built by the Hughes Aircraft Company. It was eventually moved to the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.

Alisa had it all under control!! We will be sailing on the Carnival Panorama for our 44th anniversary in October. In the past it's been Princess that we have cruised on, and we are going to try Carnival for the first time ever. This looks like a lot of fun, and I look forward to being on this ship. We were on the Panorama on Feb 12, first time on Carnival we loved it. Also we liked the elevators, we were on deck 14 and never had a problem or had to wait long for an elevator. I found them very efficient.

The Queen Mary is not being demolished. They are trying to make it a historical site. They need money. Everyone that has owned it has ran it into the ground. It needs so much repair and restoration work done in the millions of dollars. I have never stayed on it but the rooms are the former staterooms. I have seen them and they are really small. I live in Long Beach. After a long time we are going on a cruise out of LA. The Navigator in October. Look forward to watching the rest of the vlogs.

QM was at risk of being sunk to the sea, but I heard nothing bad will happen to the last ocean liner because big profits from guests could actually save her and I love the terminal interior which FYI it once stored a floating plane which I found surprising to learn. We were unsure too on the Horizon about the new elevators; but then got used to it much quicker! Went on Sunrise last week and old elevators waited forever for elevator. New elevators much better!

Once you get the hang of them they are really efficient. I stayed in a hotel in NOLA one time and it had the system. Confused the first few time but quickly got the hang of it. Haven’t done a west coast cruise for a very long time. Alaska is on my to-do list.

For the elevator, my guess is that a computer is calculating rider load and efficient operation based on; a) what floors it needs to stop at, and b) how many people will-be/are riding it.

Yay... fun cruise - did it in October. That line was tough and rather claustrophobic once inside. Miami's boarding area for RC - sooooo much better/easier. Elevators take some getting used to, but liked them by day 7! Enjoy!! It's truly a "fun ship"!! It was our first carnival cruise and won't be our last!

We did that cruise Pre Coved on the Splendor. Cabo was the best the other ports you don't want to go on your own due to the crime is bad. the last 2 days from Puerto Vallarta the the worst we had 10 foot swells and everyone was sick. Deep ocean rough seas. Going on The Mardi Gras April 16th. Can't wait.

The Queen Mary brought all the troops back from WW2. My grandfather slept on the deck on the way back from Germany. The Queen was the second fastest liner in its day. It was painted gray during the war. I have been on the ship several times. It would be a huge loss!

Puerto Vallarta is great. You should go to The Office for lunch in Cabo…then take the little boat back to the harbor. I was on their inaugural cruise in Dec 2019. Carnival not my thing but I had a great time regardless.
