I was raised on Cornish pasties, so let me help you with the pronunciation. When you say “Paste-eze” those are nipple skin coverings that women wear. When you say, “Past-eze” that is pie crust filled with a savory blend of potatoes, onions, meat, etc. Since I’m now a 65 y.o. Master Gardener, let me assure you that rutabagas are savory root vegetables like turnips, whereas rhubarb stalks are usually used for sweet treats like rhubarb-strawberry pie.

The Picture Rocks tour company is so accommodating. They gave us a full refund about 10 years ago when we couldn't complete our tour due to fog rolling in. Btw, we always ate our pasties with ketchup, but many eat them with gravy. Glad you enjoy our state!❤

I moved to Michigan about 30 years ago from California and there is so much to see and do here. Fall is my favorite time of year, the crisp air and beautiful foliage. you need to see it in the fall!

Hey, Paaa- Stee... And you should have taken the morning boat tour. The water with no wind is like a mirror. And on your way to the Taquemenon falls you should have went to Whitefish point.

My sister and her husband lived in the Upper Peninsula for years in Caspian, it is so pretty up there. Lakes, Rivers and waterfalls everywhere. When we would visit we would go hiking everywhere. One trip we did a Lighthouse crawl, stopped at all the Light houses all the way across to her house, which was almost to Wisconsin. Beautiful country for sure.

Can I just say I am so glad to see you showcasing Michigan! Michigan has so many great things to offer! Hopefully you get to check out Frankenmuth, Bronners and Tony's Diner at Birch Run. Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum are a must also in Dearborn. You could always stop but Ypsilanti to check out their Iconic water tower shaped like a certain male body part. And grab a Big Squeeze with Cheese at Roy's Squeeze-Inn.

I'm impressed that you made it that far into Lake Superior. LOL It's always freezing cold. It looks like Superior was pretty calm, though, even for the boat tour to see the Pictured Rocks. So glad you had great weather, too. You HAD to try a pasty, it's a must, like getting a beignet in New Orleans. They're a cornish meat pie that came over with the Cornish miners. Iron and copper mining were a huge industry in the UP. You'll have to come back to MI someday to see all the things you missed this time around! Thanks for showing everyone how beautiful our #PureMichigan is! ✋💜💜

The pasty thought.... we were there camp hosting for 2 seasons and I should have gotten the gravy and I always added some spice. But, the story behind them is amazing and explains the reason you've got to try one! Great vid. ~Lynette

As someone from the U.K., I’m loving your videos! Pasties are great warm and with mashed potatoes, veg and gravy. Or with chips and ketchup. Or just on their own, but should always be served warm!!! Although they are nice cold too!! Great picnic food!!!

I’m glad you’re enjoying some of the things our state has to offer. We have been long time fans and have enjoyed following your incredible journey. I wish there was a meet and greet. It would have been amazing to see you while you were here. Michigan in the winter is a sight to behold as well. You’re about a month off from the annual color change (for next time). If you have an opportunity you should check out Frankenmuth and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. No other place like it. Well worth the visit to hit up German town. Highly recommend Zhenders, Bavarian Inn, or Prost.

Grand Haven, Traverse City!! If you are beer/wine fans there are a LOT of wineries and "local" beer places all over. FYI, the words are not pronounced as you think. Munising is Munsing. The falls they were at are TA Quan A Mon. They are Native "Tribe" names. Michigan is a unique state in it's own right. lol you can use your hands to point where you were/are from for both the Upper Peninsula (above the Mackinac (Mack -in-Aw) bridge) or lower Peninsula (known as trolls).
