Indeed, that holds true, but it seems to be a common theme in every movie featuring CGI. Acting in high cgi films like Transformers , Godzilla would pose a significant challenge because those actors also dont see anything.😅

There is a story behind the origin of this movie, a big producer told Rajamouli that anybody can make a hit movie with big stars, if he can make a hit movie with a new actor he will accept him as a good director. Rajamouli took that personally, at first he made a comedy movie with a very small known comedian/actor and it was a big hit and right after that he decide to make a movie with a Fly as protagonist and delivered a blockbuster. Rajamouli's father V Vijayander Prasad who is also the co-writer of all his movies told him about an idea about a person reincarnated as a animal to take revenge back in 90's But he didn't took it seriously. So, Before Baahubali the director SS Rajamouli had 4 months free because the lead actor Prabhas was busy shooting other movie. He told his father to work on that idea with a fly. The idea was to make a short film on a small camera and very low budget of 10k dollars in two months. But they end up making a full length feature film with the production cost of about 5 million USD and it took about a year. Acc. to the director even after Baahubali and RRR, Eega was the most challenging movie to make. This way he proved to that person that it's his story that makes a movie success not the big stars.

I don't know about the producer, but from what I heard it was mega family fans and fan-media. They tried to take away the credit of Magadheera and give it completely to Ram Charan. I don't think the family was involved, it was the fans. They kept saying that the movie was a hit only because there was a mega family member in it and Rajamouli had nothing to do.

It probably would have been even less if they didn't have to redo VFX and spend extra 6 months on it. After the first VFX output Rajamouli was very disappointed and scrapped it all.

This movie COST about 😮6 million Dollars in the year 2012 which is a HUGE amout for a small picture in TOLLYWOOD ( TELUGU FILM INDUSTRY). But Producer trusted😌 the DIRECTOR " RAJAMOULI" who directed BAHUBALI 1&2, R R R ( which won GLOBE & OSCAR for NATU NATU song in best scoring AWARD) . This movie EGA earned 13 million dollars in TOLLYWOOD FILM INDUSTRY..😃
