Een straatje om

"Love Me Love My Dog" is a song by British singer Peter Shelley, released in 1975. The song was written by Shelley and Marty Wilde and produced by Shelley. In the lyrics, the singer indicates that he only wants to enter into a relationship with someone who also loves his dog. The single reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and number four on the Irish chart.
A year after Shelley's version, Dutch presenter Rudi Carrell released a retranslated cover under the title "Samen een straatje om". Carrell co-wrote this translation with Fred Koster and the song was produced by Will Luikinga. Ariola Records releases the single but, despite the popularity of the presenter at the time, it does not manage to reach the Top 40 and, just like the original, remains stuck in the Tipparade.
