Another great video thank you - i very rarely use the 15-45 mm kit lens these days preferring the 2mm and 50mm. Worth noting the 50mm with the lens adapter for the M50 (not the speedbooster) also gives you another good lens option for just a few dollars more.

I do ein both and really love the 50mm. It’s cheaper and really sharp, sharper than the 22, that’s at least what I see. But the 22 is a great travel companion. Did take the m100 with just the 22 for a holiday and really was able catching nice images. As you said. Both have their own place and strength 🙏🏻👍🏻

Hugely informative and illustrative of whether or not / when to put distance between you and your target audience. I evetually got around to buying a near mint used 22mm as my 2nd choice wide prime. I bought the 50mm with both the Viltrox M & M2 after the kit lens. My third lens was the Sigma 16mm f1.4 and fourth was the Sigma 30mm f1.4. My main reason for getting the 22mm was the 16mm Sigma whilst being fantastic is a bit of a bulky beast on the M50. The 22mm is really affordable and as your video shows produces some excellent results. I am aiming to get the 56mm f1.4 Sigma which doesn't require adapting on the M50. The nifty fifty is not surplus to requirements as I will be looking forward to using it on my older Canon DSLR. Keep up the very good work CC, cheers.

No, 30 mm / 1.4 is not 34 mm / 1.0. You get 34 mm f/1.6 equivalent. 30 mm / 1.4 = 21 mm, 34 mm / 1.6 = 21 mm. A 21 mm aperture lets in only that amount of light. 34 mm f/1.0 would need a 34 mm aperture.

The M50 with adapter or speedbooster is a trip. The EF 135mm F/2 L lens becomes a 216mm F/2 with the Canon EF adapter, and how insane is that, and how much would it cost for a full-frame equivalent? Mucho dinero. With the speedbooster it gives a 150mm F/1.4 on the M50 that is crazy sharp and beautiful. Perfect for stage events where I'm shooting at 1/500 and above anyway. I've been impressed by the image quality out of the M50 with adapted lenses compared to my full-frame 6D. The photos with extremely sharp lenses like the 135 are wonderfully detailed, with beautiful microcontrast, and they're very croppable.

When figuring out your aperture f1.8 Don't forget to multiply by the crop factor so like a Canon m50 will be 1.6*1.8 = f2.88 then do the math for your speed booster if you're using it. I wish camera companies would be more honest about this. On a full frame camera it would be a 1.8.

can we say if we get the 50mm with the regular adapter and the speed booster, then basically we will have something like a 50mm and around 80s mm for full frame right? Buy both the EF-M 22mm and the FD 50mm for portraits, F1.2 or F1.4 for $50. Both are useful focal lengths. Then FD 35mm F2, for 50mm equivalent. If you like wider, FD 24mm for 35mm FF equivalent. All great quality glass without breaking the bank. Use focus peaking and you have yourself a great versatile set of primes for the price of a new Sigma or Canon lens. The FD 24, 35, 50 are fantastic.

I currently have an M50 with 11-22 wide angle lens and I'm looking to buy my next lens - a prime one. I'm stuck between 22mm or 50mm. I want 22mm because it's compact and I also get 22mm on the 11-22 although light is not that good. I like that 50mm has better aperture but I'm concerned it would limit my use because of the narrowness?(maybe I'm wrong). I want to explore more with photography and really sharp, high quality images, and amazing bokeh in addition to my vlogging lens (11-22). Specifically, I would like to take more pictures of: Lifestyle shots, portraits, product shots and indoor shots. In my situation, which one do you think is best to buy next? I'd really appreciate your input! Thanks!
@TheCrowleyCrew
@TheCrowleyCrew 3 жыл бұрын
I think for portraits and product shots the 50mm is a good option. What you might want to do is the get the 50mm first since you have the other focal length and then wait and save for the other one. Remember though that the 50 mm needs either a focal reducer/speed booster or a pass through adapter in order to mount on the M50. Maybe also check out my video on the Viltrox 33mm and 23mm. Those are also good budget options.

I have several videos about lighting and studio shots. My guess though is the ring light is lighting your face super evenly and so you’re not getting depth in your shot. Try mounting the light right above your camera angled down at you. That is called butterfly lighting and it is a great way to have high key and depth at the same time.

Hi! Need you opinion (which I trust a lot) if you already have the ef-efm adapter what do you think about buying a 24mm f2.8, will be such a big diff that 2.8 in compare with the f.2, in mattee of boken and light? Or ir you can then go straight to the 22mm?
@TheCrowleyCrew
@TheCrowleyCrew 4 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the EF or EF-S? The EF-S is good, and should work pretty close to the 22mm. The EF is gonna be as good when it comes to sharpness and light, but has IS and you could speed boost it if you want. Either one is gonna be comparable to the 22mm.

Because the speed booster has a lens of its own that light has to travel through in addition to all of the individual lenses inside the lens housing. It’s a known problem that most affordable speed boosters add their own imperfections to what otherwise would have been a perfect picture. YMMV. Your gear could also need a good cleaning.

If you have the older 50mm F/1.8 II, it doesn't work with the M50 - it won't focus properly. Same for the 50mm F/2.5 Compact Macro. You need the newer 50/1.8 for use with the M50.

whats the difference between the speedbooster and the adapter?
@okaro6595
@okaro6595 4 жыл бұрын
An adapter has no optical elements. It just sets the lens at proper distance and allows mounting the EF lens. EF-M mount has flange focal distance 18 mm and EF has 44 mm so one has to have a 26 mm adapter in between. Also EF mount is 54 mm wide and EF-M 47 mm. A speed booster has optical elements that concentrate the light to the APS-C sensor. They typically have a multiplier 0.71 which means one f-stop increase on the speed. Speed boosters are intended to be use on full frame lenses. With them you get results closer to what the lens was intended for. If you use 50 mm f/1.8 on a speed booster it becomes (really becomes) 35.5 mm f/1.27. If you then apply the crop factor to that to get what it is equivalent to you get 57 mm f/2.0 (note it does not become that, it is just equivalent to that). Note how close that is to 50 mm f/1.8. If you used the lens with an adapter it would remain 50 mm f/1.8 and it would be full frame equivalent to 80 mm f/2.9. Note the fundamental difference: the speed booster actually changes the focal length and the speed of the lens, hence the name speed booster. Applying the crop factor does not change the lens, it just is a mathematical tool to compare the lens on a crop sensor camera to a lens on a ful frame camera.

If we buy a camera that takes swappable lenses then why would you not have a bunch of lenses? Isn't that why you get a camera like that Instead of using a phone with an excellent camera. Thé best phone cameras are amazing and take the best photos and video for most people. An ordinary tech stupid person can learn to take Pro looking stuff in a week with their phones. But of course there are big limitations that lenses easily solve. Some phones even have multiple lenses. I am expecting that eventually and nit so far in the future, phones will take different lenses. I am Imagining lense boxes. They would take up the space that your lenses take up now but they would be able to snap in and out. My iPad Pro with lidar has about a half square inch of lenses. Imagine if I could snap it all out and snap in another set of lenses. It's not far fetched at all. The lens kit could even be quite protruding to allow for extensive zooming. Why not? Cameras makers better see that coming with their pricing strategies if they will lose huge market share. The small mirrorless cameras are a huge step in the right direction. But I ask how a tiny lens on a phone take such great video when cameras require relatively massive hardware? Am I making a clear point?

Jesus Christ is coming back. He loves you dearly and calls for you to come back home to Him. that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. He calls for repentance and belief in the Gospel. It’s time to fully surrender to Christ. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.!
