Ciao sono italiano, partirò con EF a giungo e volevo chiederti se tra le visite con gli accompagnatori c'è la possibilità di andare a New York di notte essendo che bisogna rispettare il coprifuoco. Hi, I'm Italian, I'm leaving with EF in June and I wanted to ask you if among the visits with companions there is the possibility of going to New York at night since you have to respect the curfew.

Ciao ! The curfew depends on your age: if you’re 17 (and I believe 16) the curfew is 11 pm, if you’re younger the curfew is 10 pm. Unfortunately, it costs time to go back to the campus, so if you have a curfew you should leave the city on time. Usually they try to put the underage students in one building (St. John’s), so they can check/control. I don’t know how it is with activities in the city organized by EF themselves, maybe they make an exception then??? I usually advise people to travel with EF when they’re 18 plus (or at least late in their 17s so they’ll be 18 some part of their trip). I was 20/21 during my exchange, so unfortunately I am not able to tell you about the in and outs of the life of an underage EF student. I do know that no matter how old you are, you are able to enjoy your trip! I’ve met some underage students who had an amazing time 😊

Hey I think about doing it would you recommend it ( I am 15 years old) have you seen 15 yrs old people doing it?
@CarolinaCorijn Жыл бұрын
Hi ! I have seen people that were around 15 years old and I have seen them having a great time ! You’ll make friends (of the same age) and you will have a great time no matter what age you are. However, I personally do recommend to wait until you’re a bit older. The younger you are, the stricter they are and the less you can do (by yourself). If you want me to go in depth about the rules and stuff, let me know! I guess you should look at your goal of this trip, like why you want to do this, and then decide to what extent these strict rules matter (or not) 😊

@@CarolinaCorijn Thanks for the answer would be nice just to hear a few points if it doesn’t make a lot of work for you
@CarolinaCorijn Жыл бұрын
@@tom.flntrm1248 of course ! So the biggest restriction I guess is that you need to be (back) in your building at 10 pm latest (it’s not that you need to sleep or even be in your specific room, you just can’t be outside your building after 10 pm). They also say you’re not allowed to go to the city alone, but I heard that in practice they’re not too strict with this. I do know that for a lot of things you’ll need permission from your parents (like for trips to another state for example). These are some things that I know about EF New York. As I didn’t go when I was 15, I don’t know how this experience would be (in reality), or if there are more rules of how it is in other places/on other EF campuses. People travel with EF for all different kinds of reasons and you should really look at your reason/goal to decide when it’s the smartest to go. For example: if you go for you English/language skills, these measures/restrictions will matter less than if you go to explore/experience/travel (I hope you understand what I mean). Like I said: you’ll find someone from your age as there are people from all different kind of ages. But I do wanna add that the average age, I would say, is 17-22. I’d also like to add that the curfew for 16/17 years is 11 pm (instead of the 10 pm one for the 15 years oldies) and the 18+ don’t have a curfew at all. Please let me know if you want more information or if you have any other questions ! 😊

@@CarolinaCorijn Can u tell the Rules? Like I am 16 and going this June
@CarolinaCorijn8 ай бұрын
@@ninahasan204 the rules for a 16 year old are the same as mentioned here above for the 15 year old, with the biggest restriction (in practice) being that you can’t be outside your building after 10 pm. When you’re 17, this curfew is an hour later (and when you’re 18 and above, there’s no curfew at all). Hope this answers your question! 🤗

I am going to this summer in july but how many times a week do u go to the center of new york because the campus is outside the center?
@CarolinaCorijn Жыл бұрын
Enjoy!! Average speaking I went twice a week, in the weekends (so every Saturday and Sunday). It’s not that it’s impossible to go during the week (when you only have class in the morning for example), but I liked being on campus/in Tarrytown. If I’m honest I wish I would’ve spent more time on campus. Just keep in mind that it takes an hour to go to the city and you need to take into consideration the amount of time you’re staying on campus/in New York (if you have the time I’d recommend to enjoy the time on campus, but if you’re only staying for a short time I understand the need to go to the city). 😊

@@juanvervenne7931 with the general course you will have more opportunities to go to the city as you won’t have that many classes :) Are you going to San Diego with EF as well ?

How much money did you bring with you if I can ask? I wonder because I wanna go on a language trip but I don’t know how much money I need with me.
@CarolinaCorijn2 жыл бұрын
This is a difficult question as this depends on so many things (like to which country/place you’re going, the things you do, the way you live, for how long you’re going). You can make it as expensive (or cheap) as you want really. I always advice to save/bring as much as you can, so you’ll have to think about it less. However, I’ve spend more money on basic things (food, shower stuff, public transportation) than I expected, so keep that in mind! I answer some questions about money in the Q&A video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmrMqGWdpJxnf8k), but that’s more (EF) New York specific. If you have more questions, or if you want me to go more in depth about this, let me know :)
