Well also, snoke wasn't even an established force user in force awakens, there were so many directions that character could've gone in. Then, Rian made him a comically powerful force user, which then led to palpatine himself being even more comically powerful.

@@willow1601fan fiction time. snoke being a sith who avoided being killed by his apprentice, goes into hiding until palatine dies, corrupts Ben solo and turns the students to the dark side, overpower Luke and takes advantage of the obvious love he'd have for his students and the child of his sister as well as the sheer numbers and ancient sith power. Luke leaves to train to be able to challenge snoke. Meanwhile leia and han are dealing with the new Republic being infiltrated by empire loyalists who snoke rallies and guides to bring down the new government from the inside and take control. The resistance can still exist now, luke is gone and can be searched for, he doesn't let anyone know where he's going because he assumes snoke will hunt him and kill anyone involved. Leia of course tries to find him, unaware of the specific circumstances. Jakku, have it on the boundary of what used to be empire space. Change the star destroyer in force awakens in the desert to another type of ship. Have rey unaware or skeptical of the luke skywalker han solo Princess leia tales that spread through the galaxy. Cynical loner but with a heart of gold. Stays mostly in line with her amazing intro in the force awakens. It's out of the way, the planet, so assumed to be a good meeting place for Po to meet Lando calrissian who is transporting the map. A familiar face, someone trusted by leia. Have dialogue with kylo that shows him refusing to give up his friends, holding his integrity. Kylo. I think he should be unstable, angry, irrational at times and berated by snoke every time he does something silly like killing Lando, Po meanwhile is getting his ship into the air. Kylo grabs it with the force and pulls him out of the sky, capturing Po for interrogation where Po can make a snarky remark and then meet finn. Bb8 transports map into desert, meets rey, but here's the big change. Firstly, finn is given a warning by phasma and a threat of reconditioning if he shows further defects. Give her more threatening dialogue. Set her up as a villain and a powerful commander figure in the first order. However this also let finn have enough freedom to rescue Po after some introspection and deciding that he wants to get away from the first order. The tie fighter restraint cord shouldn't be a thing, and finn should object to firing on the stormtroopers. Acknowledging the conditioning they have and the fact that they're victims in their own way as well. Have finn fight but not kill. The turrets are automated so he has no problem shooting them as they escape. Take away lines saying the ship is too small and fast l, replace with "this pilot is showing remarkable skill." from hux. Give him more characterization as an officer and military mind. Respect for an enemy, then he calls for the missiles that shoot the tie fighter down. They crash but both get out. Together. Rey and Bb8 do their thing, stormtroopers show up of course looking for the droid. They run for a ship. It blows up.no hope.... Then han solo chewbacca and the millennium falcon swoop in to help. Leia sent han after Lando or po never checked in. Can have a solemn moment where han and chewie are mournful of the sacrifice of their old friend. Then on to the resistance base to deliver Bb8. Meanwhile finn and po are finding a ship and trying to do the same thing, we can have dialogue and finn to describe life as a stormtrooper. Build the world in the down time. Kylo loses the map and snoke summons him and insults him, but encourages the hatred in him. Even at snoke himself. "that hatred will make you stronger" kylo says "yes master" and kills snoke. Have stormtroopers or something there to be shocked but fall in line as kylo uses the force to throw snoke to the side. (the next film can have a dual perspective. Past and present to give snoke a third of the movie to develop and see exactly what he does and how he trains kylo so his character gets screen time. Can even have kylo go completely crazy by the third film and have him hallucinate snoke during the movie so we get even more development of the villain. Now seeing kylos pov on smoke and luke and his reasons for turning to the dark side) finding luke should be act 3 of the film, luke is training or even trying to locate the knights of ren. His former students who are force user turned to the dark side. He'd want to save them. But that also means when luke confronts them they send a message to kylo who rushes towards that location. Following the map to x planet where luke has ended up searching for the knights, or any ofhis former students, han and luke can meet and talk. Have some movements together. The former Knight of ren that turns back to the light is killed by kylo who luke fights as the others run, then luke pushes kylo back to regroup with the others in the falcon and flee. Keep han alive till the end of movie 2 so we can have dialogue and moments between our former cast and have them mourn the loss of Lando, their friend. Han can still die to kylo at the end or during the end of act 2 of the second movie. They only learn of snokes death maybe just before hans death so luke realize how far gone kylo is. Killing his master and taking control of the galaxy. Second movie would have luke training rey and finn, sensing the force being strong with them. Rey can spend time binding with han as well. Fleshing out the relationship. Then hating kylo and wanting to destroy him after hand death. Rey struggles with the dark side because of that hate. Finn and po help her and remind her of what they're fighting for. Po kills phasma eventually and struggles with the that. Taking a life being against his moral code, against who he is. The necessary actions of ear and dealing with the psychological effects that can have. Something mature and relevant to the real world. We'd see this character we grow to love struggle with everything they have to do. Rey trains and becomes stronger with the force. Working hard to be strong enough to help defeat kylo ren. The training with a blaster shed get with han helps. She lets go of the need or drive she has to know her parents, that family didn't stick around or she lost them and may never know who they are. Her real family are these people. Her friends that will stick by her no matter what. Losing han would be a sad note to leave the second film off on. Fade to credits with all our heroes mourning and sobbing as the news is broken. Leia breaking down. Their relationship didn't falter. They stayed together so we'd be broken in the audience. We see this beloved character who made it through the first film and all the way to end of this one and perishes maybe saving luke. A backstab from kylo that he blocks. That might even be better than trying to turn him back to the light even better if they had no idea Ben was kylo. When han dies. Kylo takes his mask off and everyone finds out that its Ben solo. Rey attacks kylo as finn and chewie get han to the falcon. Luke pulls Rey back and they all escape. I'm aware I changed the ideas there for that confrontation but eh I'm spitballing and this is just fanfiction ahaha. Ending a film with that sad note. A major character death and Rey luke and finn all going back to training with somber faces.... Preparing for the final confrontation.. No redemption bs.

It seems to me that Maj0r Lee is a very emotional, in the moment viewer; he's concerned with how he's feeling in that moment, and he eats up all the cues that movie makers use to get the audience to feel how they want them to feel. I legitimately never thought I would witness someone who exemplified the pure, Platonic embodiment of this concept, but that is pretty much all this stream was. Even a moment's consideration showed him how wrong he was, but he still went "yeah, but in that moment, I felt really emotional, and that was their goal so it was good". I think the prime example is when he says he shouted in the theater when Snoke got cut in half. Listen to his justification for that (2:24:33) and tell me that doesn't scream "emotionally manipulated".

Should meet my dad. Asshole is so surface level on the movies and shows he watches he considers it a plus if he can fall asleep in an opening scene, wake up on the closing one, and miss nothing. He also hated when a Netflix original series developed an over arching, more serialized format instead of episodic. Also also, he demands you be able to summarize any show, movie, whatever in one sentence. Example, A Midsummer Night's Dream is summed up by him as "girl falls for a guy on the wrong side of the tracks".
@quietone26742 жыл бұрын
The thing that frustrated me about him was how MauLer and Rags kept pointing out plot-breaking flaws and him just saying "that doesn't matter." I think you're right that he's an emotional viewer, rather than a logical one. The weird start where he defended Battlefront 2 is kind of indicative of that. I don't think he's a dishonest guy, or even a super dumb one, but that he's easily emotionally manipulated and cares more about the feelings something gives him than its structure. It does make me wonder what flaws he *does* think matter, and I think any one he picked out would tie to his emotional investment. In fact, I think there's proof of that in the stream: when MauLer shared Luke reacting to Han's death he was trying to justify cutting it for time, but also seemed to agree it should have been kept in the movie. That scene has a huge emotional impact in it and he admitted he'd have liked to see it in the movie.

he had me heated for a very different reason. I got Battlefront 2 back in December 2017 and I played it all the way until July 2020. Underneath all of the controversy at launch was a very good multiplayer game which DICE eventually polished into a great game over time. February 2019 was the month when Anakin was added to the game and Major Lee's lack of defenses for the game just baffled me. DICE had already completely removed all of the PTW bullshit a year beforehand and replaced it with a normal leveling system where you use points gained from leveling up to upgrade your different units (Infantry, Reinforcements, Heroes etc). At that point, there had already been the introduction of a new large scale game mode (Capital Supremacy), six heroes (Finn, Phasma, Obi Wan, Grievous, Dooku, Anakin), two new reinforcements (ARC Trooper, Commando Droid), and a fuck ton of skins for troopers and Heroes. Major Lee is just a fucking retard who literally doesn't know how to argue a point. It's funny that Rose starts off preventing Finn from saving what he loves instead of fighting what he hates (leading to losing a large number of the Resistance at the end of a futile sub-plot), then at the end stops Finn from fighting what he hates instead of saving what he loves (I'm not sure what he loves at the end, to be honest), causing the Resistance to become vulnerable. Oh, and Finn's wrong while Rose is right despite the outcomes of her actions.
@Prof_Tickles924 жыл бұрын
No. Rose along with DJ taught finn to fight for a cause as a whole, not just individuals like Rey/Poe. She saved him from making a pointless sacrifice like her sister did.
@owainglyndwrlastprinceofwa24864 жыл бұрын
Professor_Tickles 92 a sacrifice that would’ve saved the resistance: pointless? Btw that doesn’t justify Rose’s actions, when she crashed into Finn the chances of them both dying were so high but nah it’s fine because plot armour. Also Rose’s sisters sacrifice was not pointless, her sacrifice led to the destruction of the biggest threat to the resistance that the first order currently possessed
@Prof_Tickles924 жыл бұрын
Deus Vult Finn’s sacrifice was pointless because the beat was already disintegrating his speeder. He’d have been vaporized before he hit it. Paige’s sacrifice did take down an imperial ship but the victory was in vain because Poe’s reckless actions cost a great deal of resistance soldiers. So they had a greater net loss.
@owainglyndwrlastprinceofwa24864 жыл бұрын
Professor_Tickles 92 1. That first statement is quite simply false. Finns speeder was being melted by the beam but was still in tact when he was within a couple feet from the laser and would’ve absolutely made it. Plus that just raises the question on why Finn was even still alive after Rose crashed into him considering his speeder was already melting, the crash should’ve left him in pieces scattered across the ground. 2. When the stakes involve destroying the biggest threat to the resistance currently being used by the empire, losing a bombing squadron is absolutely worth it and Poe made the right decision. If Poe has listened to Leia the bombing squadron still would’ve been destroyed considering they were already within range of the ship and are incredibly weak, they would’ve been gunned down anyway and nothing would’ve been gained, plus the biggest threat to the resistance, the most powerful ship owned by the empire would still be in the air as an active threat.

Maj0r Lee is the embodiment of disingenuous argumentation. He Gish Gallops constantly, states false thing as true with complete confidence, answers questions that were never asked to avoid answering your actual questions, moves the goalposts constantly, and worst of all will admit that you are right, then continue on as if he hasn't just been proven wrong. The last bit is the worst as it reeks of "I'll say you're correct to get you to stop talking about this, not because you've actually convinced me" thinking. He'll agree that you're correct, and then continue on as if he was the one who was correct instead, throwing any argument he can, no matter how vacuous, at you to try to 'win'. Also, it's probably for the best that he wasn't there. He would've had an aneurysm over the sheer stupidity of this guy's arguments. Hell, it made MY head hurt, and I was just listening.

I have several friends like this where having a discussion with them is actually painful because they are too dumb to understand how to formulate a logically consistent argument. Instead they deliberately avoid defining any terms, OR even if they do the definitions conveniently change to suit their argument in the moment irrelevant to how it impacts their previous statements. These discussions then become a series of Schrodinger's Cat experiments in which every argument they make is simultaneously every variation of the same argument with every definition of every word being used and every time you open one of the boxes you discover a contradictory outcome that retroactively alters the states of the previous boxes until finally you open the final box, the other boxes disappear and all that's inside is a note that reads "Look, I don't actually care what you think and I'm not going to change my mind. I just want to win the argument."

Essentially Padme falling for post-order 66 Anakin/Vader in basically half a day. How does this make sense to you, simply because there was a scene of them being somewhat physical? Almost all of his defenses were basically describing what could be interpreted from the film. I think this is what Rian Johnson wanted in a lot of ways. He leaves as much to interpretation as possible with the characters, while the falsely created drama (ex. the bombers, incompetent first order, Holdo) propels the main plot underneath them to get them to where they need to be. The audience does the rest of the interpretive work for him, based on the legacy of Star Wars already left by OT.

Lee’s whole “Luke’s arc in this was better than his OT arc” around 3:11:00 is what convinced me that he is a troll. No sane person can believe that.

Major Lee has less standards than a toddler. Put a few pew pews and boom booms on the screen in front of him, and that's enough, apparently. But, hey, at least he was willing to come on...

I’d rather he hadn’t come on, to be frank. This was a massive waste of time.

So he didn't notice that the whole 'force bond and the vision' was a set up and a trap that snoke created to try to ensnare ray?

Also ripped from KOTOR1 and 2; much better stories.

He did notice, but only when it's convenient to his point.

I've listened to the bit from 4:53:27 to 5:09:54 probably a dozen times. It's so interesting to hear the idea of objective criticism in film explained to him in so many ways and for him to still not understand it in the end.

Its not that he doesnt understand it, rather he doesnt want to understand it. I used to have a classmate who was utterly convinced she did not understand "math" (said in many ways and quasi generally), and no matter how she tried to take in math lessons and explanations about the most basic to relatively more involved problems, she always fell in the "i dont understand it", as if a mantra of sorts. She didnt understand it because she was convinced she didnt understand it, as she was fully capable of logic and calculum when it wasnt contextualized as "math", it was a concious to subconcious bias (aka the concious precept that "she doesnt understand" inherently made her mind subconciously avoid being able to work around any mathematical problem) against the topic that stunted her.

this is very tragic all those people trying to defend such a huge cinematic fuck up. It's totally ok to enjoy the movie despite the flaws, but pretending that those flaws aren't important or aren't flaws at all is just tragic.. It makes my head realy hurt.

In the Return of the King, Aragorn should have had no idea how to use a sword. He was so perfect in the previous movies that I would absolutely love it if they added dimension to his character this way.

26 minutes in, Lee must be trolling right? No serious person or gamer would make these arguments. Edit: Oh my, it never gets better.

My brain melted listening to this. "It's like poetry... It rhymes." only 10x more idiotic This man is the ideal corporate fan. They could smear feces on the screen and he'd like it.

@Tom Ffrench Being egged on to the point of being pissed off and fighting back is way different than contemplating murdering someone in their sleep. Luke went to Vader to try and save him despite knowing the bad he’s done while he almost killed Ben on the basis of “he might be bad”
@bipstymcbipste56413 жыл бұрын
@Tom Ffrench I too remember the moment where Luke went into his old and frail and innocent dad's tent and pulled a light sabre on him cause he MIGHT do something bad.
