Hey, I'm Derek Kirk aka Effectatron. In this tutorial we create an infinite floor look with Redshift in C4D S26 using a Cyc Wall Studio setup and Lighting. It makes a nice seamless background.

You can also apply rs tag to a plane turn on matte settings, or use shadow catcher node in materials.

That's awesome. You can also create a cyc wall by throwing a bend deformer on a plane. The added benfit is everything remains parametric. You can also use a second bend deformer on the opposite axis if you want to horizontally curve the wall around your subject.

In R26 inside the assets browser in templates, I think. There is a photo cyc wall object. You just need to switch out the material for a redshift one. Love all your tuts by the way!!

Hi Andrea! Simply open the asset browser click create and then go down to Import. Select the zip folder from the download and you're all set. It puts it in the uncategorized folder by default and you can si.y copy and paste it wherever. If that doesn't make since I show how to import them at the end of any of my 3.5 material tutorials :) thanks for reaching out! Hope that helps.

3:04 Im not sure why im seeing everyone doing it in kind of a clunky way like that when there is such an easy way to do it in a few seconds while always maintaining control over the curvature and subdevisions after the fact. Crazy simple: Create a cube, scale it up, make it editable, remove top + front + side polygons, slap a bevel deformer on it, subdivide and offset as u like. (and throw a U-R in there somewhere to flip the normals) Done. Adjustable, light and takes about 20 sec.

There are always multiple ways to do everything, feel free to do it however works best for you!

It’s a shame that Redshift hasn’t implemented the C4D background object the way Arnold has. In Arnold you just use that and a floor with a shadow matte and you’re good to go.

You can do that in redshift too but it's not quite the same workflow. But you can do a shadow matte in RS too easily.

@@effectatron Ah, that would be nice to learn! I haven't gone in-depth in Redshift but I believe that all the "Infinite Floor" tuts I've seen so far use lit background geometries. Using light to create something like a precise background gradient etc is a bit time-consuming, so using a matte plane with a ramp (or similar) input for exact control is probably easier and faster. Maybe there's stuff for a whole series with various techniques for creating infinite floors in Redshift? 🙂 PS Great tutorial BTW!

Yea always multiple ways of doing everything. If you want to use a shadow matte, you can put a Redshift object tag on the floor and go under the matte tab and enable it and shadows.
