I have a sand filter so when I do this should I close the valve to the main drain? I don't get this kind of suction from the skimmer for sure..

Great question. You can keep the main drain open but you'll have to backwash more and maybe clean out the pump basket.

@@VIPPoolsandSpas Appreciate it..We bought our 1st house and have our 1st in-ground pool so I'm learning the ropes. I noticed our return jets don't have the eyeball to direct the flow so I'm getting those which I know will help with circulation and flow
