I am dealing with an active heroin addiction in addition to experiencing many symptoms that make me quite certain I have COVID-19. I’m scared to go to the hospital for 2 main reasons. 1.) The stigma of disclosing my issue and being turned away in the midst of this pandemic. 2.) Being hospitalized for my COVID symptoms but not being properly cared for because of the stigma and not being treated with withdrawal medications accordingly. Many great things were said in this video but there is no solution for those like myself right now. I feel like a burden and feel very trapped. I hope my symptoms subside soon so I can pursue traditional treatment options . . .

Chris - We appreciate your reaching out to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and we understand your concerns about your symptoms and being stigmatized. As a federal scientific research agency, we can’t provide medical advice or treatment recommendations, but we encourage you to contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357). This is free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders. We wish you the very best.

I wish these resources were more to-the-point No offense, but as a wannabe "helper" AND these should be less chit chat and more to the point (before thirty [30] minutes to get to the TECHNICAL point....how long does it take? NOT AS LONG AS YOU'RE [STIGMATICALLY] MAKING IT.) Get it rolling! PLEASE!
