Sometimes it's useful to see the logic other people put into their fishing gear. In this case we'll look at the rods, lines and sinktips I use under different conditions.

Great to see what you use. I've git to try the Sonar tips because they are all the same weight. I use the Rio Versileaders 24lb core for the same reason. The Airflo Flo tips are pure Skagit and pretty hefty.

this helps alot. I can never get a straight answer from the experts if they answer at all lol. this in reference to the combined line weight with sink tip attached. I have been experimenting on my own and suspected this was the way to do it but hearing this from you is a good thing. many thanks for clearing this up Peter.

Hello Peter. Nice to see which lines you like to use the most. Also see that you use rollers from Danielsson in Sweden.

I've been using Dannys going back to when they were marketed by Loop. They're great reels.

Very useful again. Well explained as usual. The GF 63’ 8/9 is 708gn. Your rod is rated 510. That’s a huge jump. How do you know the right weight to choose when it comes to longer Spey lines? For example, I own an NRX 13’ 7/8 and I am interested in a 54’ GF Equalizer. How can I know which weight I need? Thanks!

For longer Spey lines, just go by the rating number. An 8 wt. rod takes an 8/9 line. As far as the line weight goes, it's all about productive weight and in the case of that line, it's a lot lower than 708.

@@hooked4lifeca Awesome, thanks. I just bought a GF 54' 8/9 532gn to pair with my 13' NRX 7/8. Hopefully this will work even if the rod is fast and short. Cheers!

Peter, great video. I am now reviewing my setups after seeing this in an effort to simplify my approach to the various option I have when I fish. One question, your thoughts on the SA textured spey tips vs RIO or Airflo.

For sinktips, all I have are Airflo versions or homemade. I do have those Sonar leaders by SA. Are you referring to those?

Peter, does the IMOW sink tip 2.5/7.5 T10 work the same way as the Airflo T10tip?

@@jerrygreen4541 Their construction is similar so I would expect their performance to be similar also.
