Yes, I usually stop fishing trout once bass opens in late June. As we know, catching a trout in warm water kills it. Our regulations only allow us to keep trout under limited circumstance, so basically when fishing for trout in the heat of summer we're killing fish and then wasting it. Bass on the other hand, handle warm conditions just fine and are quite robust. I've caught the same bass on the same fly within a span of ten minutes. In one case I could've caught the same largemouth bass three times in a row if I'd set the hook. They can handle catch and release in warm water. Trout can't, so I only start fishing for salmonids when the water gets to 15 C or lower.
