In 1984 I was attacked with an illness....I can't say what it was, but I literally could not move any part of my body except barely lift my head a little off my pillow. My husband could not miss work due to just being at a new job a few days. I had 3 small kids, 6, 4 and a baby boy 7 mos. My husband put the playpen at the foot of my bed with the baby in it. My 6 yr old daughter was my only help. I had her feed the baby as he stood in the playpen. I was crying out to God to help me. I heard inside me ( Holy Spirit)..." you don't have to take that, you know what to do!" I said "YES I DO". Then got sooo mad at the devil and began yelling out loud, quoting scripture to him of healing and using my authority in the name of JESUS, commanding him to take his hands off my body! I was INSTANTLY HEALED, sat on the side of the bed praising God! I got up and went about my day, cleaning my house and taking care of my babies! The word of God is powerful! GOD IS GOOD!

Hey Art, just thought I would drop you a note. I was watching you teach on how to pray and layed my hand on a lump I had found on a Friday. It was Sunday night at 10:30 pm (next morning I was going to call my dr.) I had forgotten about the lump but as you taught I said to my self lets try this and remembered it. It was not small, under my arm, I had been told to keep and eye on it, but had not realized it had grown 75%. So here I am and said what you said, "lump be gone in Jesus name", It felt like it broke into a hundred small be be size pellets and then went down like instantly. I was so surprised!! I jumped up and went over to my Son and asked him to feel this lump I had. He said he could't feel a lump. I said because Jesus just healed me!! 5 seconds ago it was there. We are all praising God!!!! thank you for being you. Just the way Jesus wants you.

A great book to read concerning baby believers healing is No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green. It tells how, as baby believers, Keith & his wife picked up a couple of hitchhikers in their van, prayed & got them healed, then were praying & healing people at their home, then in meetings. Then Keith wrote the Easter Song & THAT started healing people. Then Keith stopped because it scared him to have that power & nobody explained to him that it was God's power not his & therefore OK. But he's a great example of a young Christian that God used because he stepped out in faith.

Art Thomas: Please pray for me. I'm in Belgium and have no one to turn to as I don't speak the local language. My family members are Christians and we've prayed for each other, but I'm still with an aliment. I've been healed of a genetic defect (something that seems large) and yet I'm still bound by another issue (something that seems small). I believe in healing. I've repented of my sins. I do lack faith to believe for my healing even though I was healed of a genetic issue. It is so puzzling to me. Thank you and God bless!

I think this is one of the best video's I have seen in a while. I really really struggle with giving authority over things (Because of things things that have gone on in my life), but also have control issues. Your sermon totally makes sense! I have always believed that only certain people received the gift of healing, so it would not be something I could ever do (Even though I have asked/prayed for people to be healed, I have never believed my prayers would work as such). Not only that, I have never thought I could be deserving of healing through Jesus, nor have I ever seen it happen in my life or to those around me. You have given me a new perspective on things and something to really think about! And I will be watching the rest of your videos lol! Probably lucky I wasn't there either haha ;) I have a biggggg list of problems haha! My whole body, mind and spirit needs a overhaul ;P Also, I loved the part about you saying you are an introvert.... I am too and this year, God has also told me I will be doing public speaking, and developing my gift of prophecy (Plus a few other things). Ummm yeah, 2 things you NEVER expect to come from an introvert lol!! In June I was finally baptized and for the first time in 8 years, I got up in front of people, and gave my testimony (Against my will haha! But God told me I had to) I didn't want to be baptized either, as I knew the plans God had for me about public speaking, and boyyyyyyy I was not ready! But he said to me "If you do this for me, I will MAKE you ready" The instant I was baptized the fear of public speaking was gone. Literally gone. And it so happened that the next week I was to get up in front of 30ish youth, and talk to them about social media addiction. I was nervous because my speaking on my testimony had not gone well IMO. Nerves got the better of me (Should have been baptized first bahahaha :D) But God made me fearless within minutes. Once I had finished, I KNEW its what I've been called to do, and now really excited to see what God has planned in that ministry next! Good to see other introverts making an impact in that area! haha ;)

Denise Cizek - I'm so sorry to hear there is not yet any change. I want to be clear that I never make promises that people will definitely be healed. All I can say for certain is that God wants you to be healed, but I readily admit that I don't have 100% results like Jesus did when He walked this earth. My own faith often falls short as a minister, and I'm very open and honest about that. I'm still learning. That said, I'm not your only hope for healing--Jesus is. While I'm happy to persevere with you and continue believing with you for a miracle, there are literally hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of people all over the world who know how to minister healing. Don't give up on seeking for Jesus to receive what He paid for. And don't feel bad seeking healing from multiple Christians--perhaps one of us has the faith to deliver the healing Jesus purchased. So be encouraged. I know what it's like to suffer long-term with multiple debilitating conditions. I know what it's like to believe for a miracle and be disappointed time and again. I also know what it's like to refuse to give up and worship Jesus by seeking the miracle He deserves. And I know what it's like to eventually be healed. I'm still believing with you for a miracle. Be healed in Jesus' name.

Art Thomas thx for this Wonderful video! You don't actually address what James 5 says about asking the elders to pray for the sick. You briefly talk about the oil. I'm wondering why James says that the elders are to do it. Thank you, your teachings are great.

FoxyStealth - I think I see what you're asking now... sorry for the confusion. The word "elders" simply means "mature believers"--not because mature Christians are the only ones who can minister healing but because (1) they're the ones who have been walking with the Lord long enough that they should know how to do it, and (2) they're more rooted in their faith and know how to persevere without frustration or doubt in the event that the miracle doesn't happen right away. I've seen children minister healing who have only been Christians for less than 10 minutes, so I know James isn't saying that only mature Christians can minister healing. Every believer can do it (see John 14:12 and Mark 16:17-18), but if new believers don't see success, the responsibility falls to those who have been walking with the Lord for longer.

Hi TC: I had a cat who lived to be 21 1/2 years old. Every time she got sick I laid hands on her and commanded her to be healed in Jesus' name. She received and I saved a fortune on vet bills! Evangelist Dave Duell got his start praying for sick cattle and saw them healed. He eventually moved on to humans. Deut. 28 says we will be blessed in our livestock. Pets are the same as livestock. Also, God is concerned about everything that contributes to our happiness, so your grief over Peanut's condition concerns Him..

FoxyStealth - To overly-simplify my answer, there's a difference between gifts of healing (in 1 Corinthians 12) and the "sign" of healing (in Mark 16:17-18). One works momentarily through a specific believer while the other is always available to every believer. Sure can! Many times I have seen the first healing in one of my meetings come through the ministry of someone who just minutes earlier gave their life to Jesus. That said, get baptized soon! :-)

I will practice and bring all glory to him! and yes i will sir! but I had a question about getting baptized. can anyone born again do it or does my church leader need to be the one who baptizes? +Dahiana Esparza - Generally speaking, anyone can perform baptisms. “Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John- although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples.” (John‬ ‭4:1-2‬) When Jesus commanded His apostles to baptize believers, He also told them to teach every new disciple to obey everything He had commanded, which includes the command to baptize new believers. (See Matthew 28:19-20.) With that said, typically pastor's want to make sure you understand what you're doing before you do it, and there's not technically anything wrong with that. Biblically, baptisms happened immediately at conversion (whenever possible), but one could argue that baptism was already part of the culture, which meant that everyone understood it's meaning. So there's a good chance your pastor is just looking out for you and wanting you to have the richest experience possible with your baptism.

Art, it looks like you read the comments posted here, so I'm adding this one hoping that you'll see it. I went off on a tangent from the point in your talk where you referenced the usage of εὐχή in James 5:15, and I came a cross a post by Bill Mounce that I thought you'd find interesting. It's only loosely connected with what you were discussing, but it's Bill Mounce, so it's probably worth reading just because of that, and it definately relates to healing: www.billmounce.com/monday-with-mounce/sick-or-depressed-james-5-14. I should point out that Mounce says at the end of his post that he is not ready to take a stand on the ideas he's pondering, and you may well disagree with what he's proposing, but I figured you'd be interested nonetheless. Also, Mounce's questions are ones I've had myself, and I figure that probably means you've pondered them yourself at some point.

I've heard it all 100 times over, never seen a healing. 65 years of faith. You can say my faith is no good - I'm just saying the truth of my experience. I've never heard anyone able to address the real experience of real people - it's always, "If you don't get what I get you're doing it wrong. Let me set you straight."
