My son has a sniper system on his truck and we did Power Tour in 21. No problems and it was great. Since then it has had a few minor quirks. Hind site I would jump up to the Terminator system for a few reasons. We also did the self learn but did get it Dyno tuned and picked up 45hp to the wheels. The self learn does not change timing.

Man I drove my 1972 Nova for years all through the 1990's it had the original 350/350 with 2;56-1 rear gears and it has a crane cam , don't remember the spec's but I put it with the help of a friend in 1993 , and I ran a Edelbrock Torquer 2 with a used 650 Holley, and you'd be surprised how much driving I did on 5 to 10 dollars worth of gas , I worked in restaurants in the early 90's and I didn't have a lot of money. But it was a very dependable car , I still have it and am getting close to getting the rest of the stuff to start taking it apart so I can make it a little faster . Lol cool car you got there , and good video . I don't mind fuel injection but just adds to more things that could go wrong . Lol

I have a street driven 80 Camaro, 406 SBC. I removed my Holley 650 Carb, HEI Distributor and replaced it with a FiTech 600HP EFI and MSD Ignition about 2 years ago. I choose the in-tank fuel pump. Initially, after the change, my car would die after a 20 minute drive, wait 5 minutes, then drive about 2 minutes and repeat until I got back home. After a few months of troubleshooting, it turned out to be the MSD 6AL Ignition box that I mounted under the hood on my firewall. It was to hot at that location. I moved the 6AL inside my passenger compartment and its been awesome. You didn't mention cold starts as I live in Indiana and during the winter, cold starts are easy. No gas pedal needed or holding a higher RPM for a few minutes to warm up the carb. I bracket race my Camaro and making a timing change or AFR target change is easy. All these EFI Systems collect DATA. Looking over about 20 parameters after a drive is fun and great for making adjustments, if you want? But like you said, you must drive it, let it learn, and that should be good for most people. I like to look into the data, but that's just me. Most important is Reading the Instruction several times before you begin, having good grounds and solid electrical connections (suggest soldering), no vacuum or exhaust leaks. Start with a healthy, good running engine is also key to a successful EFI transformation. Good Luck

YEEEEAAA LIKE WHEN I BOUGHT A 72' CHEVELLE CONVERTIBLE!!! I don't do points and condenser. My mom was great at adjusting them. Not me. I dropped a HEI distributor in it. And that car was so reliable back in the midish to late 90's. After I started to learn injection. I'm still a dork. But I am still learning lol!!!

Love AMC`s!. Just put the Royal Flush on my 69 AMX, but have a question; Why do you run the system at 60 PSI? As I know the fuel pressure should be like 43 PSI? Thank you for your videos of the ACES install, really show how this is in both good and bad ways, :)

Nephew has a sniper. Started his car in the spring and had an injector stick open. This was in June. Still waiting on Holley to return his efi unit. Seems their customer service sucks. Had my fi tech 5 years. No issues.

OUCH! Hopefully the injector sticking didn't cause any engine issues? Bearings/rings? Sorry to hear about the Holley service side, but glad to hear about the FITech unit, have used their products on numerous machines in the past and been pretty satisfied.

My answer is always. If you are turbocharging a car go EFI. Otherwise EFI is a luxury. Once I learned how to program an EFI system I never wanted to tear apart a carburetor again.

My opinion is since I have all the tools for the carburetor in the know how also on certain applications the carburetor is perfect however unfortunately fuel injection is a little bit better however I have never nor will I ever build a classic car that is carbureted and swap it over to fuel injection. What does two of my three kids are Gearheads and I've taught them everything I was taught about building Motors unfortunately for my kids I'm not ready to check out yet so they're going to have to wait to inherit my cars so until then my carburetors are there to stay

Austin do you have to have air cleaner for computer to learn programming
@jaratt85

"Much higher or lower sea level.." Austin you're showing your midwesterner.. Sea level is constant, the word you were looking for is elevation. A good carb guy with all the tools and parts can set up a carb for any situation. ANY SINGLE SITUATION. Carbs are not designed to deal with changes in temperature, air pressure/density, or angle. EFI only requires a computer to make changes to it and can tune itself within ~15% +/- of it's base map. Port EFI also is better for fuel distribution, especially if you are running sequential injection instead of batch fire... batch fire is why stock computer cars still get bad mileage because they lazily fire multiple injectors on different sides of the engine that are paired together for reasons unknown which not only wastes gas, it increases emissions. If I ever get to build my square body Ranger like I want to get (especially if I can find a 85 like me) it's definitely getting EFI, especially now that there's California smog legal EFI setups. EGR and carbs can kiss my ass. That thing's still gonna get hot in traffic from the heat of your exhaust on the floor. I actually melted a pair of flops in my 70 Mustang at one point. (burnt the hell out of my big toe on the arm for the brake pedal the other day when it was 110 and I got in the truck without leaving the AC running for 20 minutes first.. things get hot in vehicles)

I ran a FiTech "Mean Street" system on my 65 GTO from 2016 to May 2024. I believe the ECM needs replaced, it would randomly shut off on me last year. They made lots of improvements to their systems since 2016. It ran flawlessly and I put around 45,000 miles on the car, doing road trips 1000 miles from home and then driving 600 miles with a bunch of old cars. Never lost a fuel pump, I run Walbro inline pumps, usually mounted to a bracket I make, close to the tank, but lower than the fuel level. The farther you put it from the tank, the shorter its life will be. Also if its above the tank, it won't last as long. The 225lph pump I ran on the 65 for years started making noise, so I swapped it for a 255lph, everything ran the same and now I use the 225 to get E85 out of the barrels. Swapped to a carb so I could drive the GTO. The carb I swapped on is an 850 Demon double pumper I converted to E85. Its tuned where I want it according to my standalone O2, but man does it use a lot of fuel compared to my other carbs and EFI. Its down on power compared to all the others too, but that could be lots of things, not just the carb. I like EFI because I can make them run on pump gas or E85, but the only engine I have that has low enough power to use the Aces, Summit, Atomic systems is the Cuda. I think the 340 in the Cuda has a vacuum leak under the intake, kinda like a pvc in a port, because EFI will not run on it. All the Pontiacs are well over 400hp and they all run on E85, so I need roughly a 600hp unit for a 500hp engine, just to make sure I don't hit 100% duty cycle and mess up the injectors. Also have one of FiTech's dual quad 1200hp power adder systems, can't get it to run right. Had it on the tunnel ram and the 6-71, and I could not get a good idle with it. I have an Offy dual quad I plan to put on the 65 GTO, and then I can run the EFI on that and see if it runs decent. The tunnel ram had vacuum leaks where it bolts to the heads, so I put the blower on instead. At this point I am not blaming the EFI, because the engine I am doing all of this on is nowhere near stock and only has three factory parts on it, the timing cover, the camshaft eccentric, and the distributor clamp. I bet it works fine on the GTO, but its only around 550hp or so. I rebuilt and modified some chinesium 850 carbs to run E85 and put them on the blower, it runs and starts good. I am rather impressed with how well I made those carbs work, they were not a bolt on and go deal and they needed lots of work. Using the carbs I figured out I didn't have enough pulley on the blower to feed the engine, and thats probably why it never really ran right with EFI. Went 12% overdriven vs 6% and it made a huge difference, now it pulls beyond 4000rpm. It needs some testing, not easy to do with a never ending stream of RVs and bankers on Harley's going by all day. Been playing with the idea of using some factory EFI and building a system using all the LS stuff I have laying around, or maybe a megasquirt system. Have some things I want to do with E85 regarding mileage, and I need a system like that where I can do a lot more than with one of these TBI systems. I need it to be low buck though, even though the FiTech dual quad wasn't exactly cheap, I can't justify $4k at this point for a Terminator or something similar. Installing them right, on an engine without vacuum or exhaust leaks, means you will probably not have any issues with these TBI systems. They are simple and you can make them run quite well, but you can also screw them up super easily... just like any carb (other than edelbrock because they have minimal tuning capacity).

In my opinion, if you're not direct port injecting then it's nothing more than an electronic carburetor. One oxygen sensor is a terrible method for determining fuel to air ratio because you could be melting pistons in two holes and sloshing raw fuel everywhere else. The only way to guarantee success is to install 8 oxygen sensors and create your fuel tables before it gets on the road. Then you can run a single O2 sensor to have it switch tables when dealing with changes in altitude, weather, and fuel composition. I would never recommend an electronic carburetor over direct port injection because it doesn't compensate for uneven intake manifold design, which is the reason why so many people have trouble getting their jets and mixture screws to run right in any situation. When I talk about direct port injecting I mean sequentially firing, not batch fire. Batch fire direct port injection is the absolute worst idea of all because you're spraying raw fuel on a closed intake valve three times before it opens. Watch dumbass David Freiburger on Engine Masters, that guy knows less about fuel injection than my dog.

We already know, you LOOSE HP. on top end with EFI, that fact is already known. And if you have a truly restored car, we surely are NOT going to drive then (any of mine) in rain, cold or snow. If you have a beater you drive everyday, or a work truck you might use a EFI, but I still run Q jets or Holley till death.
