My first EDF w retracts had that same nose down at full flaps, something I had never experienced before w prop planes and/or balsa planes. I thought it was a defect assuming it was a AOA defect and was about to return the jet and seeing this video help understand its a tendency w this type of aircraft. Some mix and problem solved, lands as if on rails. At the field the club members are impressed how fast it is and how well the edf slows down.

Having worked F-4E's and on a base with F-4Ds. a touch and go is really an approach a twenty foot level flight down the runway and up again. The AF E's got six landings to a set of tires, so you don't waste them with touch and goes.

Great thing about models is we get more mileage out of our tires

@@PilotRyanMedia When I flew RC I had a really good intermediate trainer I kept around for eleven years. I went through three complete radios, using it as a radio test bed, three engines, and countless sets of light weight wheels. I finally retired it and flew something else for five years more. When a Crew Chief told me that fighters get maybe six landings on a set of tires, it blew my mind. That was until I found out they hit the ground at close to 200 mph. An F-105 hits it at close to 300 miles per hour!! Tires don't last long.

What Flap deflection are you getting with the stock flap settins per the manual? 6. Set FLAP SYSTEM: SELECT SWITCH D: POS 0: -100% FLAP* POS 1: -45% FLAP* POS 2: 50% FLAP* I cannot achieve the 25mm and 45mm travel using the above flap setting using a DX9.

Mine had two servos one in aileron and the servo in the elevator both checked out ok with a servo tester but on the maiden flite both crapped out and the plane was a total loss . Worst part was I contacted horizon hobbies and was told to ship it back to there service department.ship what back it’s in a 100 pcs.

Uncle Bill Shepard and I put this together last weekend. Right gear didn’t work after assembly. Took the servo tester with the right wing removed and the gear was fine. Isolated the issue from the female plug back to the receiver. Bill called Horizon and told him, “Go fu$& yourself. We aren’t sending you a new fuse. I’ve got about 20 Eflite planes and EDF’s, 3 Spektrum transmitters, 2 of their new battery chargers and around 30 Smart batteries. Never again. MotionRC and ArrowsRC are getting all my RC business. Horrible customer service!

Hate to seem like a dummy, but on all of my prop models with flaps, it takes down elevator with the application of flaps ( just like on a full size aircraft...adding flaps effectively increases the angle of attack on the wings, therefore down elevator is needed to compensate for the resulting pitch up of the nose as the flaps are applied. ) Is the ducted fan model actually the exact opposite?? Just seems backwards to me, but I am new to jet models, so may need to learn some new tricks. Please clarify this for me. Thanks.
@PilotRyanMedia5 жыл бұрын
Planes need what they need whether its prop or not. It’s not Uncommon for some to need up and others need down. It all depends on where the flaps are in relation to the cg and also if they are high wing or low. That’s why we all have to have more than one plane because they all have their own thing. I’ve flown other f4s and they all really put their nose down at full flap if you don’t mix in more up elevator.

@@PilotRyanMedia Thanks guys, that really helps in my decision making process regarding a possible purchase of the F-4. I do have one other concern that you might help me with, if you would. I need to know the size of the battery area in inches....length, width, and depth from the canopy hatch at its shallowest point (forwardmost). This would tell me if the batteries I have would fit in there. I really don't want to order it, and then find that I have to invest in more batteries. This is not a tipping point in my decision, but would certainly help. Thanks so much, in advance, for any info you can provide.
