Eflite P51 Mustang 1.2M 2nd Flights: Rule # 2, Don't Hit the Car - Touch and go Plus Assembly Tips

Putting the Eflite P-51 Mustang 1.2 M through it's paces. Is this the best all around - easiest to control Mustang? Still a taildragger, so cars beware....
Generally an easy plane to assemble but provided a few assembly tips at the end.

Haven't decided whether I am a Decathlon kinda guy or not. Been waiting forever for Horizon to release a new EDF 70 or 80MM. Instead, all we get are Timbers it seems..... Happy flying and thanks for watching!

My Tower Hobbies Mustangs are right on par for easy to fly as that eflite one just a bunch lighter cause they dont have flaps and retracts and i dont mind cause they are crazy light and still handle winds very well.....Personally i prefer the look of the June Nite Version cause of the cool stripes on it.

@@MarksAultimateRC They were discontinued when Horizon Hobby took over the company the quality of the foam and simplicity of design and assembly was far superior to eflite planes at the time.

Hi Mark, as much as I agree with you concerning flying, touch and go and landing, I disagree on the take off part. Obviously, you have lot more experience with Mustangs and mastered them anyway, so this might be why you judge it super easy, but it is not. On mine, I thought I would not be able to take it off at all because of my narrow paved way I was using. It is notorious for this bird because of its steep angle that it has a strong P factor, so it pulls like crazy to the left unless you got the right technique. Too cautious and it ground loops like on your first take off attempt. The CG is right over the mains, so it super easy noses over. I‘ve broken at least 10 props on her so far. Again, with the right technique and some trick, you can conquer all these, but I wouldn‘t recommend the P-51 as an easy to take off plane for people that do not have quite some experience and skills with tail draggers. That could cause a lot of frustration, like it did for me. When you get beyond this point, the P-51 is a dream indeed and a very graceful appearance in the sky. 😊

Certainly not recommending this as your first taildragger. Not sure I would recommend any warbird as your 1st tail dragger. But compared to other Mustangs I've flown, this is easier. Easier than the Eflite 1.5, easier than the Arrows 1.1. Had the Voletex 780mm back in the day, easier than that. This is even easier than my Eflite RV-7! It is not the easiest warbird though, Arrows Bearcat 1.1 takes the cake for that, followed by the Eflite 1.2 Spitfire, both sadly discontinued. Check out my video's on all of those planes and you will see what I mean. Taildraggers require practice, and even then, you can still have takeoffs like what I had. Plane probably has enough power, but is to big to do by yourself IMO. Plus, I like the takeoff and landing part of this hobby. One of the reasons why I practice it so much. Come to think of it, I don't know that I have a hand launch video of any of my planes on the channel yet, will have to work on that. Thanks for watching!

@@scottdearmond5532hm… not sure if I would dare. It‘s kind of heavy for the size. Probably it would do it, as it has a strong motor. On the other hand: when lacking experience and you‘re not determined enough and hesitant on the throttle, I‘m not sure if she would drop a wing. Better practise from the ground and make sure you have a wide runway and no parking cars around 😅.

But honestly, if you say they are worse, I wouldn‘t even want to try them. 😂 BTW: I didn‘t understand your recommendation as one for beginners or first tail dragger. Still, the P-51 attracts a lot of people and some may only hear „easy to start“ and miss the relation to other Mustangs. 😉 For all folks, who wonder how to get a (nasty) taildragger straight into the air: There are nice tutorials out there. Check out ModelAV8R and SteffenRC. To name only two, that I like and appreciate.
