Cattle will rub against that and an oil will come out on those bristles. It helps prevent flies from biting the cattle as much.

That was a fly oiler for cattle. Ranchers fill reservoir with repellent and the cattle walk through it to apply the repellent to their face and back.

That's a cattle back rubber. The fluid in it keeps flies off them. Mixture of diesel, usually. There are many different types. We usually have ours in gateways so they get a lil dose every time they pass through.

I'm in the process of training my first bird dog, a GSP, and I watch these videos with hopes of being able to do some of these adventures myself. Unfortunately, I started late in life and living on the east coast doesn't provide a lot of opportunities for wild bird hunts, except for some occasional farms with quail down south. These are some of the best upland hunting videos around - even better than some of the stuff I see on the Outdoor channel!

I enjoyed your show. I used run bird dogs and always trained them to stand steady to wing and shot and only retrieve to hand on command. That way the chances of shooting the dogs was non existent. My dogs never had problems finding downed birds.

Those two pups were on fire! Your selective breeding program is off the charts, and it's producing some exceptional dogs. How do you determine which dogs to breed, and are you breeding with other dogs around the country? I'm just blown away by the talent you're producing!

As always great dog work the pups are doing better than I have seen 4 year old dogs do rigs set birds in one part off heavy cover where there was a big flush you shot one he retired it quick as he code he literally true the the bird to you and back in because he new more in there quick set and second bird down class thanks for sharing Eric as always great work can’t wait to see more 🇮🇪

Wondering what shot size you've loaded? Hard to judge distance in the site pictures, but seems to be a lot of feathers at times. Great sportsmanship in passing on longer shots, and picking best killing shots on covey rises. Videografhy exceptional!

Wirehairs don’t shed that bad but they do shed. I had a tighter choke in than I prefer. I like open chokes for early season.

Just curious, how do you preserve/keep fresh your birds while on the road? I wouldn’t think they would keep for a week or more just in ice in a cooler.

Just target loads for the prairies. For Chukar I use a high brass 5 or 6.

I suppose it depends on what you hunt most. The 20 is sweet and is ideal for 80 percent of what I do. But I like having my 12 when hunting Chukar in the steep stuff.
