I agree, the best upland, dog work, content anywhere,. We tend to blame ourselves every time we miss, but true is that shooting chukars in a downhill, when our footing is not solid and our arms and legs are exhausted is not an easy task. Is a dream come true seeing you in nevada, Eric.

Eric I have been watching since the beginning. You have set the bar when it comes to quality content. I appreciate the effort you put into your productions, I don’t know how you find the time during the hunt to do it all. I know I am exhausted by the end of the hunt, then do dog chores, set up camp for the night, and make food for myself. Let alone try to get content to make a quality video. Well done sir!

I remember hunting chukars in Hells Canyon in the 70s when we would flush 200-300 birds a day, (no dogs) and that "can't hit 'em" disease would strike. So frustrating. We would have a reloader in the camper so we could keep shooting the next day. I feel for you man. You did, however, redeem yourself the next day. Great video.
@ericforrester111 ай бұрын
Wow, I can’t imagine 300 birds! So cool.
@johnvanderwalker483011 ай бұрын
@@ericforrester1 the coveys were 20 to 50 birds so it was huge flushes, real fast shooting and lots of missing. We usually hunted the last weeks of the year (calendar) in snow and found the birds under rock bluffs of south facing exposures where the snow as melted back from the rocks and the birds had easy access to the cheet grass sprouts. I was a teenager with young legs in those days. We would camp in the bottom and walk up hill in the morning till noon and then hunt ridges downhill till dusk. Those were the days.

Outstanding content as always Eric. I hope you don't take this wrong because I know you're a good shot but chukar in particular offer a unique challenge with shooting. Many many missed shots with chukar are over the bird because of how they're almost always flying DOWN parallel to the ground (which is almost also always down). If I start missing a few shots on chuks, I try shooting a bit lower on descending birds and that almost always cures my misses. No idea if that's where your miss was or not and I'm sure you don't need strangers telling you :) Keep up the awesome content sir!
@ericforrester111 ай бұрын
You are absolutely right. They are almost always falling and that makes them difficult to hit because it’s an awkward shot. Not to mention the poor footing!

Those lousy shooting days just happen! I do the same thing you did. I stop hunting, call my dog into me, maybe eat a snack or take a drink and just breath and let all those muscles relax. Sometimes its easier said then done too. Tubbs is an absolute locomotive! His lung capacity must be huge! I guess i never really noticed how much bigger he is than his kennel mates. What is he, 15 pounds or more heavier than your other dogs? He just seems to do everything right. Such a great dog!
