During opening the discovered that you couldn’t really see the catacombs so they raised what there is. There are more easter eggs in the catacombs what they are not showing yet. There are places where you can see Esmeralda. The ride is complete but can be enhanced in the future. I was there on opening day and the queue reached 5 hours shortly. It was so long that it reached the entrance to the Efteling. Efteling was still learning the attraction. In reality nobody has waited 5 hours. Fanbase reported that queue was about 3 to 4 hours in the beginning. Later it dropped to about 2 hours. Now on busy days the queue is about an hour. And yes when it is a walk on they report it as 13 minutes. It is also a high capacity attraction with about 1296 (108 every 5 minute) riders every hour. I was there when the ride opened to the public but I only went in de queue at 15:00 and still did Danse Macabre twice that day. I later learned that some of the fanbase did ride Danse Macabre 5 times that day. There is a rich and unique backstory to the ride. A part of it gets told in the queue of the ride but there is a lot more. What the Efteling put online is not the full backstory either. The made sure that the backstory and the ride are free from any reference to any religion. The merchandising is also part of the backstory. The Efteling created a lot of merchandising for this ride and it was in place a week before the ride opened. On the preview days they needed to extend the queue to get into the souvenir shop. That queue stayed in place a couple of week after the ride opened. The Efteling was truly surprised by the people that were there on opening day. They had a big opening for Baron 1898 but Danse Macabre beat that. There have seen people form all over the world flocking at the Efteling for just this unique attraction in the world.

The crypt isn't really filled but for now its fully finished but there is plenty of room for improvement in the crypts. They did add a couple of small things nothing very speciale. They aren't really that visible if you are in the wrong seat anyway. I believe it peaked out over 5 hours. not sure how long that was though most of the day it was between the 4 and 5 hours i believe.

The crypt has always been there, and my understanding is that more lighting and theming has gradually been added, but the platform itself will not lower any further than it has always done. Different benches/rows give different (brief) views as the platform tilts
