But I think the reason so many people are hyping up this roster is that the standout carries (in most games anyway) are both local talent rookies that EG brought up themselves. They have help from Korea and EU, but it's those stars that are making NA proud. And of course I have to mention Vulcan, the guy is arguably one of the best supports NA has locally produced.

Depends on how entrenched you think NA management mindset is. It is very likely nothing will change. "Super teams" will poach Danny with a big paycheck. Danny will get paid handsomely for past performance so he will no longer improve. Super teams have no incentive to scout young talent and are too lazy to change. Smaller teams like EG will scout because they do not have the cash to compete otherwise. Rinse and repeat.

@Duane E nope. TSM has NA's best ever result at worlds. 3rd place. C9 being good at worlds is simply a myth. Their semi run a few years ago was nothing but a fluke. Also TSM is the only NA who actually won a international trophie. IEM and Rift Rivals.

@@justinyoungblood2653 you could say TSM more often than not do what is expected of them. They compete, they go 3-3, and then lose on the tiebreak. Unlucky. Only twice did they perform way below expectations. Once in that very tough group with LGD (who also unperformed) and the 0-6 (which was a bit harsh, cuz more than half of those games were 50-50 and then a small mistake and that's it, you lose, but hey, thats worlds). Anyways, doubt that we will be seeing either TSM or C9 in worlds the way both performed this season tbh. This EG team tho, quite exciting tbh.

C9 on the other hand made semifinals in season 8 and quarterfinals in seasons 3, 6, 7, 8, and 11. In terms of recency C9 smashes TSM (4 playoffs appearances since TSM's latest one) and in terms of all time record C9 is better in every single measure you can think of (both made semis once, though C9's appearance counts for more since season 1 had no korea). C9's also known for making out of a group of death twice now. And how can you call going 3-0 against Korea's 3rd seed a fluke? You are literally just wrong.

I am speechless, well take it back.... I was speechless and finally found some words to type from my brain registering this series and this run from EG. First off you have a 17 year old, and a 18 year old with jojo and Danny... They both have so many years ahead of them. Just think about how many years ahead of them, JoJo is a rookie and wow.. Are they even in their primes? I mean come on, the sky's the limit for them as long as they can stay hungry, committed and never give up and opt to being in a comfort zone. The whole bringing up NA talent is something special to see, they just showed the world buying EU players, buying the best players does not mean a damn thing sometimes. As for the series, I feel Closer for 100 thieves should have been put on a carry jungler early, not a trundle who literally doesn't really engage or do much for his team other than bully in the jungle, same thing with Graves. I mean give him Hecarim, Skarner, any engage champion out there so he can do something. Secondly... Mordekaiser is lowkey broken, it's not Impacts Morde, the champion smashes anyone 1v1 with the exception of a few like maybe Vayne who can tumble and make skill shots harder to land. I figured the game would go EG's way after seeing that picked. Anyhow I am happy to see a new banner put up, happy to see perhaps the start of a new era in getting players on teams without looking for EU players.. It's crazy. This might be the most dominant team performance I have ever seen since like the first two splits of the regular season Immortals kicking everyones ass although they choked in playoffs, I mean it was that intense. This team today would have beaten the 2016 TSM roster easily. MSI will be interesting to see if they can make it past their group and face a korean team. korea plays slow and capitalizes on small mistakes. Korea typically don't opt into fighting random either.

what a fantastic team. What a sick finals. Only thing I can say is that it's a shame that these tournaments don't give a second set to the team who made it to finals from the winner's bracket. In most other double elim tournaments, that's how it works. I mean, both EG and 100T only lost 1 set in this tournament, but it's double elim, so why does EG win when 100T should have only been knocked to the lower bracket and given a second chance just like EG got?

Going to make a 2nd comment really. I feel like the competition in NA/LCS isn't that close anymore as it was a few years ago. EG 3-0ing all these playoff teams shows how much gap is in between the first place team, and all the others which is quite large. This could change during the summer, but right now, NA is terrible, granted NA never has really had success internationally in the first place but damn they are even worse this year so far, may not even be a wild card and not even make it to worlds group stage if this performance continues all year... Again it happens. Ever since they put in double elimination bracket, the one from the lower see has ALWAYS won. There is no advantage given to the one from the upper bracket. You can say they have more prep time, but that's just maybe 1 day of prep. Either way, congrats to EG for the win. Per Garrett, I'm wrong & I will admit it.

@@DemonicGorilla I think the 1 day of prep is the biggest coin flip. As the upper bracket team you have to either gamble and prep for the team you think will make it or try to prep for both. As the lower bracket runner, you have two opponents but at least you know a week in advance who they are and you get to “warm up” the day before.
