I just installed the 18k on my house just got it up and running yesterday, I am running entire home! I ran the service connection straight to the inverter and from the inverter to the house so it is now in control over everything.

Hey Rodney, thanks for taking the time to do this. Very informative. I'm really excited about the 12000XP. I have an 18KPV already which has been working solid but I want to expand. Looking into the grid boss with a 12000XP to work along with my 18KPV. I'm not at all interested in selling to the grid so that 12000XP looks really interesting.

A lot of us are asking if the 12xp will work with other XP’s paralleled. They should be able to do that.

The documentation for the GRID BOSS says it only works with the 12KPV, 18KPV, and FlexBOSS21.

​@@chevrofreakYeah you're right, i saw that as well but it also seems to have the ability to accept power from other inverters. I suspect it'll have really tight integration with the FB21, 12 & 18KPV but may also work with other inverters but we'll see. Many times all that's required is a firmware update.

Looks like the smart ports can be programmed to turn on and off with time of use, battery state of charge, grid input etc.

Some people did not get power back here in the US Virgin Islands for a year after Hurricane Marilyn, after Irma and Maria in September 2017 some did not get power back until April 2018. Folks just have to help each other out.

It seems silly to include ANY breaker with the Gridboss. If you are going with a Flexboss or a 12kpv you need to buy a breaker for it and the included breaker goes to waste.

The way it looks the grid connection is not a smart switch. So no disconnect with the grid down. So I don't seeing it being compatible with an offgrid inverters.

Maybe with the smart ports but I will need to do more research. Definitely not through the normal hybrid inverter connections

I was about to purchase a 18kpv but then notice this is about to come out. When it comes to solar string voltage range the 18kpv max 550v vs Flexboss max 440v, is that something to be considered to go 18kpv vs Flexboss 21? Also is there any advantage on purchasing “preorder” vs waiting, is there any savings?

Both are up to 600vdc. The mppt range is up to 500vdc for the 18k and flexboss 440vdc. So yes a slight difference with the Mppt range but that should still be enough in most applications in my opinion. Definitely like the improved specs on the flexboss otherwise though. More output power is nice

Do you still need to derate your panel? Panel is 200a, looking at 12kw of solar. 120% in the tradition model would mean I need a 175a main breaker

From what I understand no. This is built to accept the 200 amp grid service.

@rodneyhunt I believe hybrid for hybred inverters, and batteries can be also it was at their stand at offgrid show in Vegas or texas.. saw it on KZbin a month ago . On waiting list probably going with 2 Grid boss inverters
