My little girl (almost 3) was watching your video with me, listening intently. Near the halfway point, she reached into her toy cart and pulled out the tray of plastic eggs. "She can have these eggs, mommy." She was rather concerned. She tried to give them to you through the screen 🙈. Melted my heart, so I had to share.

Just a tip having worked cooking and managing many commercial kitchens in my 54 years the "egg product" are real eggs just beaten. It was bought or I purchased liquid egg and would freeze them upon arrival and the last shift of the evening would put in the frig to thaw overnight what was needed for every recipe the next day. Since it's only myself and my kiddo I have started beating our eggs and freezing them in freezer bags and using them when needed. Used for sammies, scramble, omelets and for baking! Blessings y'all!

The liquid eggs are real eggs broken. My husband works as a supervisor at a liquid egg plant and they break real eggs then pasteurizes them.

I'm in Alabama and we still have eggs, but they are expensive! We used to buy (2) 18 packs of eggs every week. Once the price of a dozen went over $4/dozen, I dropped eggs from our regular breakfast menu. Now we're eating cheaper alternatives, like guacamole toast topped with scrambled tofu and potato hash with sausage, and saving the eggs for baking and other "only need 1 or 2 for a whole recipe" meals.

Thankfully no egg shortage here. Good learning curve for Weston. I always loved cooking with my grandkids. It’s always a bit tricky because being twins they both have to be involved at the same time, I need a dozen hands and eyes in the back of my head but somehow we get something edible made. They are 4. We made pizzas recently and scones, they loved playing with the dough especially. ❤

The chickens used for egg laying are not the same as the chicken meat we consume. Chickens that lay eggs are culled at 18 months old and not big enough for consumption. I goggled it and that’s what it says. Just for added info, 😊 beef cattle are not the same as dairy cows. We don’t consume dairy cows.

I was almost out of eggs and went on a quest last night to see if it's as bad here in New England as in Alaska. I ended up with a 6o-count box from Walmart for $20, as they were $7 a dozen or $12 for the organic eggs I usually purchase. At this point, we're contemplating raising chicken.

Gas and eggs are cheaper in Alaska than they are currently in my area of Pennsylvania. Gas is $3.79 and on the rise. Egg prices range from $4.19 to $7.59 a dozen, depending on the store you go to. The 50 count eggs is $19.98 at our Walmart.

Well here in Washington State where your eggs for Alaska come from, it's not looking good at all as for the upcoming egg supplys at all. They have been telling us that Eggs are going to continue to be in short suppy & very high in price, like 60% higher in price than normal with no signs at all of it coming back down at all.

Lower 48 has been out of eggs for awhile. Costco seems to be creating the biggest fear as we haven’t had them at our costcos since November. Guessing it’s costcos supplier. Buy butter it’s now out of stock at Costco here in NV. Guessing this will also make its way to Alaska. Lots of stores have eggs but their expensive 12 organic 9.99 a dozen and it’s timing like you said. God bless you and thanks for sharing.
@amyb7070
@amyb7070 Жыл бұрын
I have to agree with you regarding the timing. I work at one of the Walmart’s in Anchorage. I have seen the shortages regarding eggs. But I have also visited Fred Meyer and Carr’s. I think it just depends on when the eggs get delivered to the store. The stores get trucks in all of the time. It just depends on when you go shopping. My store might have eggs in the morning but another store might have them in the afternoon.

Our egg prices, here in the piedmont of NC, are getting expensive at $8-10 a dozen. I grew up n a farm and we had chickens that provided us eggs and meat, as well as an acre garden for vegetables that we canned, put up in the freezer, and stored what we could in a small root cellar. We would trade chicken, eggs and veggies for beef from our neighbors. Those were the good ole days. I live in a neighborhood now and only enough room for a very small garden and chickens are against the HOA. Love your channel and watching you instill such good values and life skills in your boys. (I have a son named Weston 😁 but he just turned 28 and we have only known 2 other Westons) I do get a little jealous of the snow because we rarely see snow where we live.

In the UK - Avian Flu (Bird Flu) has been a big player on our egg producers - Also cost of gas and electricity has been the major factor - - Big shops not willing to pay the egg producers what they need to keep the flow going. This years song should *Mad World*. Prices are just mental, Chicken has rocketed !! So I go round bargain hunting, memorising when mark downs happen, researching prices on the net - also buying in bulk !!

We don’t have a Costco here, but we do have a Sam’s Club. I bought an 18 pack yesterday for $6.18. Limit 2. I was just happy to get some. Butter prices have increased by more than 30%. Here in New Zealand they have gone up and definitely a shortage. Stock is limited in the supermarkets. Excuse here is that we have stopped battery laid eggs. Not enough egg farmers now. Alot of farms have not converted and have stopped farming.

great vid Lauren & while your problem is eggs ours down under is Potatos....we had floods in a lot of places in Spring so it pretty much wiped the spud situation out.,.....so what we were paying for a huge 10kg bag last year now costs the same for 2kg..... thats if you can get them...frozen chips are non existent & if you are lucky to get them then they have doubled in price....that bit makes me soooo mad...price gouging at its finest....& now sugar might be the same too...Mice have eaten the sugar cane so sugar price will skyrocket too......just been shopping for the week & like you make all meals every day & started stocking up on sugar...if its not one thing its the other.......you did really well & that cheats lasagne looks delish...i make something similar ......love yas xxxxxxxxxxx

Hello from Oregon, in my small retirement town people are doing chicken's in town and Rabbits. No Roosters in the city and how I love there crow. I believe the trains much louder. But I have five cans of hole egg's if our store's run low but small farms are supplying and egg's are $.99 a dozen and there small egg's weak shell. Our Gas finely went to $3.90 nice three dollars less.

Here in Western NY we can find eggs but it’s hit or miss. Walmart has been out and they are charging WAY more than our other stores. Walmart is charging 8.42, Wegman’s 7.48, Top ‘s 7.90, Target 8.29. The funny thing is Eggland’s Best are. less than all the store brands. Costco has their 24 pack of brown organic for 8.88 if you buy them online and have them delivered so my guess is under 8.00 in the store. Our prices here are always high compared to most of the country. We are almost at the Canadian order and well NY is always high on everything 😂. Thank you for the great lasagna recipe I’m excited to try it!
