If you put your plate on top of the cake, you can then invert it onto the plate from the cooling rack onto a plate and then you won't have to hold the cake layer with one hand.

Happy Holidays! The reverse creaming method you used makes very nice layer cakes. Can be used on most any layer cake. Also, do you have a homemade Egg Nog recipe to share?
