Hey Sammies!
Here is my final shift to reach 999 for the first time on the from Splatoon 2 returned map Salmonid Smokeyard.
I've been playing a mix of Tri, Twin and final Freelance.
GGs to TJ, Flip and Marta who teamed up with me and the Freelancer I've met along the way.
And Yes - I "This way" bossy and nonsense "This ways!" back. =)

As a low vp player I almost never see anyone saying this way unless it's fog, I typically use it when there's a lot of eggs sitting around and need some help moving them all and/or clearing the area

I've genuinely never seen someone call out so many useless "this ways" in a single shift. I can't imagine that they think they are being helpful, right?

@@abra_escapedThere were times I had actually almost every shift "Nonsense-This wayer" in Low EVP (one of the reasons I want checkpoints back so bad) It got a little better tho, but there are still a lot of People who call this way for low tide when everyone is already heading there, they call this way for every first boss spawn, some even call this way for the Kings - or quite common are player sitting at the basket spamming this way to demand luring while statics spawn. I sometimes wish we could mute teammates.

Eyy nice on the 999 It might just be me but this map feels so much more demanding of you at high hazard levels compared to other maps, especially high tide. It is an experience i can say that much haha

I didnt reallty enjoy this map on s2, but with the new egg throw and the ability to floor bomb almost all the flyfish on this map... ITS AMAZING! It's definitley one of the hardest in the game now, but it feels like its potential for OF is insane!

I liked Yard a looooooooot in S2 and it was my favorite map until Ark was released - then ark was my fave. Yard feels way harder than in S2 - but might be also because we can just play way harder Hazard Level. The old HLM of 200% feels still kinda chill on this map - but the 333% can be quite tought - depending on the RNG.

congratulations on the 9s che! i'm working on it myself, at EVP 720 right now. maybe this time...! i was wondering if you had any advice for meeting people to play with? i have tried using the big discord servers but there are so many people and it's too scary for me. 😢

i recommend joining people who are streaming (there are often many streamers, especially smaller ones, playing with viewers during events like big run), or to stream yourself if you are able

Thanks Pip! I hope your run is going well and you could reach 9s by now. The advise of joining streamer brella mentioned isn't bad. I'm not in any server, but I hang out in a few streams on twitch or kick 👀 and I play or help ppl to get to 9s. I prefer it small too. 😅 I could tell you a friends stream I hang out once she gets her PC back - but she/we usually don't play with new viewers and rather like to get to know the person or their vibe first. Viewergames can be pretty strange sometimes.

If you team up with friends that are in different ranks, your rank can't go up until someone is an Eggsacutive vp like everyone else

Heya Irene! Are you sure you are 99/99 EVP? This is actually only possible once you've reached 999 and lost all the way down to 99. =) If you are playing with friends that are BELOW Profreshional ranks, then you won't gain points. You will then have a "Support" sign on your Rankscreen. Profreshional, Pro +1, Pro +2, Pro +3 and EVP can all play together in a friends lobby or in a pool and everyone will gain points. If Overachiever and lower join, then you won't gain points but you will lose points when losing. Are you playing with player you don't know in a pool or low rank friends?

I play with randoms, so that may be the problem. If it is, then that’s dumb, because I played with an Egg. VP as a Profreshional player (Mr. Grizz can tell you that apparently, he said the “if that doesn’t make you VP then I don’t know what will!” line) and my rank went *up*. I’m very tired so this probably doesn’t make sense.

If you mean by with randoms the Freelance option and not creating a room while in a pool with randoms joining out of this then it should actually work. I've never heard or seen anyone not getting points when Freelancing. When playing with people in a created lobby or through a pool it can happen to have too low ranks joining, causing the higher ranks not to gain points.

But why do you only get one!!! golden scale? Is it possible to get more, like, 5 ones? Pls don't tell me that you REALLY have to defeat Horoboro or Cohozuna before the timer reaches 30sec or less...

Scalesquality is just random - yet the higher the Hazard Level the higher the chances of gold/silver - even tho its just slightly better. Like 3% for gold and 20% for silver on 333% Hazard Level Max. And yes I have seen a very few times up to 5 gold scales dropping on Twitter. The highest I got was a few times 3 gold scales at a time.

It is really unfortunate that the drop rate is that low, I am basically just that "random" dude who is not "that" skilled in Splatoon but tries his best to get at least ONE golden scale like every 10 Cohozunas/Horoboros... I guess. But it is kind of exhausting, the game is just not "fun" anymore. There is also the problem that you HAVE to use the 4 weapons provided by Nintendo, it is sadly not possible to chose! Sry for the lil rant and my bad english and pls have a nice day.

Hey Griz! It depends on map, comp and if Freelance, Twinlance or with friends. I usually don't check the time - but over the rotation (both days) up to 10h maybe?
