played this at the local amp dealer. the sound is sooo powerful, it was by far the best head in this size and price-range. the distortion blew me away. the tube mix makes it capable to get both a fender clean and a marshall distortion. this amp is the definition of bang for your buck..

it sounds great - and the attenuator and effects loop makes this head a TOTAL WIN. they're currently going for $549 in the US.

I picked up one of these on Craig's List for $540. This amp is badass for sure. Very powerful and packs a ton of tone for such a small head.

I just bought one of these and I F'IN love it! I'm running it through an Egnater 4x12. My biggest complaint is that its a single channel...I'm almost thinking of getting a swtichbox and another head.

The Tube Mix comes through as very subtle when dialing in EL84s and 6V6's on these videos, but when you demo the amp live you will hear a big difference. Same thing with the bright & tight switches. The Wattage dial does almost nothing. I have the Rebel 30.

you have to be right there playing that amp to hear the differences of the 6L6s and the EL34s. to feel that amp cranking your heart an soul and bumping your feet
@willeng8413 жыл бұрын
@HearingLossProvider Yep, since they came out with the Tweaker line and use the Celestion G12H30 in it everyone just gets the tweaker cab instead since they are both 1X12's with the same options.
@shawnjoe728 жыл бұрын
How's does this Rebel compare to the Tweaker? Any pros cons? I like the tweaker sound but the wattage dial knob and the tube mix knob attract me to this rebel model. Any one have any more infor on the comparison to sway my judgement on which one to get?
@tritonobionico13 жыл бұрын
I really like the tone of this amp, is organic, not old, not too modern. Im looking for a bedroom tube amp, this definitively is an option
@mizu20612 жыл бұрын
what jiric said. 6l6's are for a more metal sound, while el-84's are for smoother, crisp tones. But if you want a heavy, crunchy-scooped tone, i would go with kt-88's. Amazing tone for metal.
@gahzeyboe14 жыл бұрын
The rebel was okay, but I love the tweaker. I played on of these, and before I did, I was really excited about it because I thought it would make a super versatile amp, but the tube mix didn't really do much for me, and apparently Bruce himself admitted the wattage knob doesn't really change the wattage. The tweaker though is amazing, it can do so many great sounds and is even more than what I had hoped the rebel would be.

Guitar Player magazine gave it their "Editors pick" they raved about it in their review. These are available in larger size/watt. Noticed Guitar center keeps these in stock along with about 5 different Egnater models.
@cjpmugsr99912 жыл бұрын
While my Carvin X amp is being retubed, I've borrowed an Orange Dual Terror. Doesn't seem to have as much gain as this does. I am really considering an Egnator since I like Ty Tabors tone so much and the Rebel 20 is a nice reasonably priced little tube head from all I've seen of it.

Smartest comment I have seen yet on here. It is all subjective. If you like your sound use it regardless of what anyone else says. Its all in the mind and fingers anyway. A good guitar player will make any amp sound amazing.

@chedwerks i own it, and i cranked it in my basement and i couldn't hear correctly for about 2 hours. I am a drummer as well and when cranked i dont know if you would have been able to hear the drums
@zappafile14 жыл бұрын
@dmonks40 Depends on what you are trying to acheive. 150 watt heads to me are a myth if you are doing a full mic up. If you want to cover a large audience without a mic on the cab then this may not be adequate. Its a pretty grunty amp though and has plenty of volume for most situations. The 30 watt might be a better bet to give a little more headroom, also it is a 2 ch making it more versatile. I have personally mixed an artist with a home made 1 watt amp and had no issues. Hope that helps.

I have this amp with the single 1x12 cab', I also have a Carlsbro EVO 50 with a 4x12 cab', the one I always find myself plugging into is the Egnater even though it has no reverb and less gain, it just sounds fantastic whatever I'm playing! I am considering getting another 1x12 like the rig above, is this better than getting a 2x12 Tourmaster or is it just the same thing?
@MB-yw3pv8 жыл бұрын
YOU CAN GET A EGNATOR 4X12 FOR GOOD MONEY USED, JUST TRY EM OUT FIRST, MY BUDDY JUST GOT A EGNATOR TWEEKER 40 FOR 300$ AND A EGNATOR 4X12 FOR $150, I THINK THE 2X12 CANS ARE BETTER CAUSE THEY ARE BOTH IN THE SAME CAB, I HAD TWO 1X12 BLACKSTAR CABS AND A 2X12 SOUNDS BIGGER

@methodinsane15 жыл бұрын

@timwhite55627 жыл бұрын
Christ, the cleanish 6v6 is ridiculously compressed. I had one of these for years and i don't remember ever getting that sound from it. I've been using a 20W Plexi clone for the last few years, but was considering getting one again when the mark came out. I read that they increased the gain and added a switch to give it even more gain with a different gain structure. I'd probably use the Plexi much more, but liked the idea of having another British voiced amp for a more modern, higher gain. I figured that I liked the originals overdrive but just wished it had more. Being old hat with this amp I was confident that at the least,even if I didn't like the mark 2 setting, I'd like the normal one. I discovered as soon as I demoed that I was mistaken, the normal setting had changed too. I still liked how it sounded, but it wasn't as open, so I quickly nixed the idea

How does this amp compare to the Orange Tiny Terror?
@Theonlymoog15 жыл бұрын
@rjonsolo1 and exodor1: There's no need to fight about music, guys. Music's all about the love. Tone, however, is all in the mind. Eddie rocked his Frankenstrat just as well as he did the Wolfgang. And Jack White rocks his garage sale Kay as well as he does his Gretsch. SRV sounded like SRV regardless of what he had in his mitts. It's all very subject to the player and the style.

The seeker!! Sweet sound and really "revolutionary" controls...really surprised me.. =)
@blobby_6914 жыл бұрын
at 20 watts can you hear yourself over a drumset? just curious
@Dobermann4913 жыл бұрын
@Theonlymoog I agree no need to fight but each amp and each brand of guitar have a special tone, different the softs distortion to the cheap distortion, Gretsch sounds as gretesch, Telecaster sounds as telecaster. saludos
@Mudder131015 жыл бұрын
@MyEverConstantSmile Well...that's not the whole story. Could they go to the same volume? Sure, but what you miss is how they get there. The 20w will be running full out, max overdrive. The 50w will reach the same volume earlier, cleaner, then overdrive. In that respect you are right about the 50 doing it "better". Just different.
@topografer14 жыл бұрын
i really prefer the liveliness in the high frequencies of the el84 in gainy sounds but i guess the 6v6 will give a better headroom

more volume, more headroom. So a 50 watt amp would have a louder clean sound than a 5 watt, because the 5 watt would break up/ distort your sound. 50 watts is louder too

@Theonlymoog is right it all depends on what sound you prefer. 1 person could say that sounds awesome and then some1 else could say it's crap. it all depens on the player. i personally like both the night train by vox and the egnater rebel. and one day i'll save up some chash & i'll buy one of them

tone starts in your head, your fingers do the walking, and your gear allows you to transfer that tone. Nothing more, SRV could take a crap garage sale guitar and make it sound lovely... dont get sucked into expensive makes you better.

@Tordah26 Tone is subjective though, keep that in mind :p. I played one at guitar center a little bit ago, and it was just awful. I do like the level of control on this head vs some other "Small" heads, but the sound doesnt hit me right. I think the tiny terror is garbage, but the dual terror is quite decent.
