That was great!!!! I think this is the best sounding Egnater demo I've heard on the net so far. I need to see if I can get my Tourmaster to sound this good. Great job.

That sounds spot on. I want to thank you for your care when capturing the sound in these videos. I love your "tonal identity", if you will excuse the expression. It's sort a modern, hi gain british crunch. Love it! Rock on.

Awesome tone man!!!! I just bought the Renegade head and I can't wait to play it. I have a gig this weekend and I hope to get it to use then. Again.... awesome tone! Rock on!!

Okay, thanks. I will try and listen to more utube demo's. Your vids are very high quality with the audio. My nearest GC is either Montgomery ( all they had was a Rebel 20 and a Renegade combo) or Tallahassee,Fl.. I guess I will just wait and listen to more before making a decision. WHoo knows, I may even like the new Jet City 50 watt head coming out in June :-) What comfuses me is how Orange uses EL-84's on their Tiny and Dual Terror and their distortion is so thick.

NICE!!! You made me want this amp. Nice playing too!

@CMinusInGym no idea what the amp settings were. no pedals used in front of the amp. used the bridge pickup w/tone and volume knobs all the way up.
@FastRedPonyCar13 жыл бұрын
@stchrismusic I think I used my old logitech C600 webcam. I always use a mix of direct mic on the amp and room audio mic captured from (when this video was filmed) a zoom H2 but now I use an Avantone CK1 mounted up on my desk.
@surefire133314 жыл бұрын
I just played a egnater renegade today. 2 words, loved it!!! this amp can do it all. I play top 40 classic rock and modern etc. I curently have a vox ac30cc2x, ocd version 3, keely blues driver , uber line 6, nice amp but doesn't even come close to being the egg. After hearing what just the amp can do by itself, really no need anymore for all the overdrive pedals and uber distortion ! LOL Nice job on the playing.

Here we are 13 years later and you sound awesome dude!!
@FastRedPonyCar9 ай бұрын
hah thanks man. I kinda miss this amp but my UAFX Lion pedal and the UAFX OX stomp make an absolutely ripping combo for an cabless/DI stage solution. Also the lion gets a WAY better old brown sound.
@steveyankees19 ай бұрын
I need to ask you, does this amp have to be roaring loud to sound that good?
@FastRedPonyCar9 ай бұрын
@@steveyankees1 I don't recall ever playing it crazy loud and the master volume helped a lot. But like any other tube amp, yeah it'll sound better as you turn it up. Thankfully we have great cab simulation, load boxes, IR loaders, etc to still let us get a great tone without a cabinet ripping paint off the walls.
@FastRedPonyCar13 жыл бұрын

Dude!!!!!!!!! you got some good evh right there. and thank you for showing us that it can be done on a les paul.
@FastRedPonyCar13 жыл бұрын
@Sk8bordr125 it's a 3 way switch I think that controls whether or not the loop itself is engaged in the clean channel/lead channel or both, not individual pedals. this means, you can have the loop engaged on the clean channel but when you switch to the lead channel, the loop turns off. just an example. if you want individual pedal on/off when changing channels, you'll have to setup some midi switching system.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@hawg427 the wattage difference doesn't cut the volume too much... it's still going to be really loud. it just mainly changes the FEEL of the amp.. less tight. If MF sale also applies to the 30 wat rebel, that would be MUCH better for bedroom jamming as it has a very similar voice but not as loud. It's still loud enough though to gig with.
@augusti114 жыл бұрын
@FastRedPonycar, Yes there is now a 1x12 version, The reason that I want a combo is 'cause I've got a back problem, so it would be easy for small gigs to have a combo. Kind regards Lorenzo

@rodrigozamo well i am looking for an amp that lasts, go on gigs with etc. actually 30 watts is enough for me, just gotta fetch a decent cab to go with that, 30 watts of tube power is usually enough for small gigs (no stadiums anytime soon lol). besides most venues will have pa's. but in the end it'll come down to how they sound to my ears, the controls and features and the price. i'll have to see for myself when i get to the megastore in germany that has tons of amps to tryout.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@Gwalker99 it seems like listening to the isolated tracks from his stuff, that they were fairly bright but all the analog stuff and tape seemed to knock off the abrasiveness of the sound. I'm using an mxr 10 band eq in the loop now to dial in the low end just right. It doesn't translated much difference on video.. it's more of an "in the room" sound difference if that makes any sense.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@hawg427 30 watts will sound really nice through a 212... or a 412... EL84's are totally different from EL34's. The amps have a similar voice but the feel of the two amps are very different. The renegade has a tighter more powerful attack and more overall oomph to the sound. On the other hand, the rebel 30 can get a more full and fatter tone at lower volume yet is still plenty loud for stage.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@hawg427 it's all in the preamp voicing. there are a million things that contribute to the overall voice of an amp.. the power tubes are pretty much near the bottom of that list.
@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials11 жыл бұрын
That sounds amazing man! What mics did you use to get that?
@FastRedPonyCar11 жыл бұрын
MD421 and SM57 on the speakers and an avantone CK1 room mic.
@FastRedPonyCar13 жыл бұрын
@skunizzi I've sold the amp since doing this video but the recording out is awful. The only way it could be of legit use is if you were recording it DI from that output and then using speaker cab impulses in the recording software to simulate a cab.
@augusti114 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for your time and do the thinking with me :)) Greetings, Lorenzo
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@ricebowlranch well.. it's brown~ish but THE brown sound is what you hear from eddie van halen on their first 2 albums. It's usually (as I define it) a clear but compressed and "chewy" lower midrange but still clear and clean at the same time and a nice snarling upper midrange. Basically an old late 60's replica 100 watt super lead plexi on 10 will be a text book example.
@FastRedPonyCar11 жыл бұрын
An SM57 and an MD421 on the speakers and an avantone CK1 room mic. I mix about 30% room and 70% direct.

My Carvin C66 has an original floyd rose and big brass block but it's a darker smoohter voiced guitar not as well suited to a brown sound as the tokai.

It would be cool of you can do a demo and only use the direct recoding out on the renegade. I'l love to hear how good or bad that can sound. Thanks
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@edskate787 They're completely different amps. the TM has 4 separate channels with a few more bells and whistles but the renegade has the tube blend feature, more tone switching options for the 2 channels and a master eq'ing section. I prefer the renegade's voicing over the tourmaster.

@hawg427 EL34's in the rebel would be pretty cool but they would have to go into the 6V6 sockets as the EL84's have a different pin configuration.

Hey man..can you please do a review of this baby with the OD pedal and some delay and can you play with the amps EQ a bit to show what range of tones you can get..cheers!

@otasty Depends on the show. Small shows, the combo is more convenient. ulitmately, the head and cab will sound better though.
@hawg42714 жыл бұрын
I just talked to Egnater on the phone. You can put an EL-34 Tube in the Rebel-30 but you have to get it biased. You can put an EL-34 tube in the Tweaker and it does it automatically. But it is only a single channel amp. That might be a thought, either way.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
They both have their place and each has their strenghts and weaknesses.. the egnater brings a bit more to the table but also costs more so.. each amp is excellent though.
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@hawg427 not at all. There is no "american" or "british" tubes... only preamps and power sections which are voiced as such and just HAPPEN to use a certain type tube. Marshalls use EL84's, 6550's and EL34's but they all sound like marshalls because of their preamp design. Mesas that use EL34's don't sound like marshalls. They sound like mesas. The preamp is largely the identifying factor of an amp's voice. Power tubes can't and won't change that. They'll hcange the FEEL of the amp.
@hotbeast77713 жыл бұрын
@FastRedPonyCar they are coming out with a new amp called the vengeance ... it is supposed to be like the tourmaster with a modern metal boost it looks amazing and most likely will sound amazing

OMG this is the EXACT tone i'm aiming for with a new amp. so lovely thick and juicy classic rock/metal tone i LOVE IT! problem is i need to look for a cheap alternative cuz this thing is way out of my budget. heard good things about the Laney GH50l and i'm curious about the Jet City JCA50H, i hope these can come close to this...

@FastRedPonyCar I don't really want a modern sound but I use to have a rockerverb 50, can the renegade achieve that type of gain? I don't like mesa sound (beside the mark iv). My fisrt amp was a 5150 II head, great for metal or palm muting but that's about it! I have two bands, one taht sound a bit like green day and the other like story of the year. I don't want to use 4x12 and heads and that's why I'm lookign at combo amps!
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@hawg427 mine has been solid. the peavey classics are great amps but lack the flexibility that the renegade/rebel have. I also have a 30 watt class A crate V3112T that's usa built that I haven't had any trouble from either. our guitar center hasn't had any returns on the egnater stuff or the bogner alchemist stuff.

I wish I could find a video on utube with a side by side comparison on the Rebel-30 and the Renegade. If you run across anything like that let me know. If you have time can you put together a short video playing your Renegade on bedroom volume clean and distortion modes. I had a Fender Super Champ 15 watt Tube amp that I just sold and if I used my pedels I had the volume between 2-3 so I won't disturb the neighbors. But hopefully we will rent a house soon. Then I can blast away. LOL

@domdauphin the renegade will do Story of the Year all day. it'll do a lot of heavy stuff but it's not suited to like metal metal, so to speak. I have the head and I love it. The deep switch is your friend!
@FastRedPonyCar14 жыл бұрын
@augusti1 I didn't know the renegade came in a 1X12? maybe you mean the rebel 30? Anyways, if you just have to have portability, the combo is great. Otherwise, you'll get a better sound from a head and dedicated cab.

Is the Renegade 65/18 watt head through a 2X12 cab overkill for a apartment if i play low volume? I just Love the TONE of the Renegade. I will probably move into a house or large trailer soon.
