Man I could tell you really liked this thing and could have chopped down an entire forest the way you were going. LOL... Just bought my very first Ego products today. Did a lot of research and they seems to be always very well liked and highly rated.

Like the video except for the fact that every time you were cutting with the saw you played music. You kept saying how quiet it was ??? .....I know its quiet but how about doing a couple of full cuts with no music so you can demonstrate the quietness of the unit.

The tensioner sux I returned mine it has a cam that turns one way backing the knob off will only loosen the bar it does not move the bar backwards. The cam has a ratchet that turns with the bar nut if you look under that cover you see how bad the design is. I bought a gas Makita saw about the same price I don't mind the 2-stroke sound.

That’s way to go two batteries use one on charger and put in saw! Then before going to the tree put the other on the charger! 40mins later when that first battery goes out get the second battery on the charger and change batteries! You do this most of the day!

I get more cuts by swapping batteries back and forth. A hot battery will show more bars as they cool down. That's because it puts less total juice to the log when hot. It's not a small amount of extra cuts either. The key is to run more than 2 batteries. I charge 2 as I use 2.

So far these are the best electric chainsaws I've used. Battery lasts close to half of what a gas powered chainsaw will last. Only down side is the bar bends too easily. Didn't even last the whole winter

@ 5:14, you definitely should've cut that from that bottom. It was bowing downward, putting unnecessary pressure on the saw. That said, I'm upgrading to this 18" EGO next season for sure! Enjoy her, mate...

Good job from Down Under, the land of the Kangaroo and Gaint Freshwater Crayfishes! Were those Subtropical or tropical hardwood trees you cut? I think I will be purchasing one of these fine Ego 18 inch Bar battery Chainsaws. The future looks bright for these Lithium battery Chainsaw. I can only see further development improvements coming.

How many minutes does it run Chainse on load?

Thanks mate..great job with the video. 2 questions...how would it go for cutting a load of Firewood for a 4 x 6 trailer? 2 batteries would get you a couple hours of work by the sound of it? (I've seen some of the other electric chainsaws cut out after only 10 minutes of work!) Is there a way to charge this via a vehicle or an inverter or something? Thanks again!

Just got one of these, and it goes about an hour on a charge. I cut up an entire maple tree that was about 18" wide at the base on one charge. Charge time on non-rapid charger about 1.5 hours.

Great video! I see it’s around 3 to 4kg more than a an equivalent Petrol - do you find that extra weight a hindrance on long jobs?
@sconcepx
@sconcepx 3 жыл бұрын
Petrol ones are generally heavier! What petrol one are you referring to thats around a single kg???
@garageblitztv3215

@@sconcepx - No that’s not correct! Power to weight ratio of combustion engines and the energy yield of fuel is still far superior to current battery technology therefore from an engineering point of view the equivalent “Battery Chainsaw” will always be heavier... Its why you don’t see “Battery Powered Airlines” or “Battery Powered Helicopters” or “Battery Powered Long Distance Semi-Trailers”. Anyway feel free to see how on average the Ego Chainsaw is around 35% heavier than its counterparts, with about 50% less run time! To make the run time of the EGO closer to that of the combustion chainsaws you would have to put in the EGO an even bigger battery than the 5.0 AH that the 45cm EGO comes with, but than you would have an even heavier chainsaw in the EGO! EGO 18” or 45cm Chainsaw with Bar, Chain and 5.0 AH battery is around 8kg! Husqvarna 135 Mark 11 including Bar, Chain and fuel is under well under 6kg Husqvarna 445 including Bar, Chain and fuel is a touch over 6kg Stihl MS 251 including Bar, Chain and Fuel is just 6kg

@@garageblitztv3215 i agree its not quite there for the tech to be used on a larger scale ie planes however you seem to not be able to appreciate how far the technology had advanced. These are the same weight if not significantly lighter. The line trimmers, mower and hedge trimmers are significantly lighter that the girls in the househould can use them for extended periods too. I have the chainsaw although from Ryobi so can't comment on the EGO one but Ryobi is also again noticably lighter. In regards to run times its a mute topic as runtime is about 45 mins however a battery charge is less than that and most people who use these tools if they have more than one tool they have mulitple batteries. Basically ones fully charged by the time one goes flat in use. Swap them out and good to go again instantly. No the same if you run out of fuel in the jerry. Not to mentiom pain in the ass starting, constant noise idling, extremely loud, extremely heavy.... There is nothing beneficial any longer with the petrol ones. I previously used Ryobi 36V and made the decision to sacrifice power for extreme convenience however with the transition to EGO ive noticed their tools are providing the same if not more especially the blower from EGO which absolutely surpasses our Makita Petrol Blower. Dad is old school and laughed at the battery gear.....but obviously had never used it. Having used it now hes quickly eaten his words and changed his mind! I suggest you actually check out these tools in person as they are quite impressive not to mention have a look at the 5 star reviews of how shocked people are with their performance.

@@sconcepx Oh Dear - this is what’s wrong with the world today! It’s obvious that you are not an engineer, or even have the basics of basic mechanical knowledge, or the ability to breakdown or compare items - sales people most love you very much 🤡 For the record - I have owned the following for almost 3 years now: Ego 50cm Mower Ego 65cm Hedge Trimmer Ego 900M3 Blower Ego 38cm Line Trimmer I can honestly say that from my experience of owning the Ego products - as long as I can afford quality battery mowing/gardening equipment, like Ego, Husqvarna and Stihl, that I will never own another combustion powered mowing/gardening item again... However they are not perfect - maybe that’s worth a video explanation 😜
