My EGO batteries flash green while doing self-discharge after sitting for a month. Was pretty surprising the first time I saw two batteries blinking away in the dark basement! I've wondered about using my tool batteries in a power station. Then I realized those tool batteries were expensive and only rated for 500 cycles before losing 20% of capacity, whereas the LiFePO4 batteries in the Delta 2 Max have a much greater cycle life and the Delta 2 Max was less expensive than the Ego power station. I bought a Delta 2 Max. The tool batteries make sense from a "use what I have" perspective, but they are optimized for size, weight and power output, not price or lifetime.

They really need to make a charger that lets you choose the rate. Maybe low, medium, high, and turbo.
@TechMadeEzy6 ай бұрын
You know I never thought about that. They do that with PowerStations maybe that would be a charger that comes out that’s a great idea.

Yes! It's one reason I like EcoFlow. I can pull it up in the app and go to input and dial it back So it charges really slowly overnight when I don't need a quick charge
@shryx866 ай бұрын
Since the fast charger has Wi-Fi, they might be able to push a firmware update so you can select the desired charging amount or time. I'm considering connecting my chargers to smart plugs in case I can't get to a battery shortly after it finishes. I can cut power to the charger to make it a bit safer until I can remove the charged battery.

How many charging watts come off the Power Station when it is plugged in? I have a 6000 watt gas generator that I could recharge batteries during the day, but it would be ideal in a power outage to NOT be running that all night for the few times the refrigerator kicks on. I do have a two EGO products now (5Ah and 2.5 Ah battery) for a chainsaw and hedge trimer. I watched you video on buying the batteries WITH the tool and the Power Station with two 7.5Ah batteries included is only $300 more than the PS itself. My math says I am getting like 1.2 7.5Ah batteries free going that route. I also would assume I can run all together 2.5 5 7.5x2 and the Power Station would work just fine? I LOVE that this is not a sales pitch but your take on things you have used and your wisdom with using the EGO products. Thank you!

Thanks buddy Just to make sure I understand your question you wanna make sure you can use 2 x 5 amp hour batteries and 2 x 7.5 amp power batteries on the power station? If that’s the question then yes 100%
@MrShadowpanther32 ай бұрын
@@TechMadeEzy Awesome. And to charge batteries on the Power Station, how does that compare to just dropping the batteries individually on the normal battery chargers? Is charging through the Power Station slower? Edt: Watching your Solar Panel video and I see it rotates charge on each battery in order to keep them all about the same state of charge. You seem to have covered every question I have as I was wondering about the Solar angle as well!
@TechMadeEzy2 ай бұрын
Not a problem, buddy and yes, it does slow charge which is really good for the battery and what it’ll do is it’ll switch from one battery to another to charge all the batteries that you have on the station. The big problem though is while you’re charging, you can’t use the power station so we’re hoping they come up with a new model.

Thank you see time stamp 03:17 around then I show some video going over the app and what makes it smart.
@FatherDragonKal6 ай бұрын
@@TechMadeEzy I’m sorry, I completely misunderstood what they meant by “smart” - I saw the app connectivity and didn’t realize that was what they classified as smart. I was thinking it somehow could change its rate of charging based on what you needed. Like it would slow charge if you needed it later or fast charge if you wanted it right away. Silly me.
@paklaselt21985 ай бұрын
@@FatherDragonKal That would be wonderful. "Smart" is just a common marketing term meaning it uses an app unfortunately.

Question: Can we use the 12ah batteries on the EGO power station?

Hi Ricky 100% And when they come out with larger batteries you can do the same

@TechMadeEzy is there a reason it is not mentioned here at all? Is there any real advantage to using the 10ah verses of the 12ah?

@rickyperkins232 the end of the day there is so much to mention when we do these reviews. 12ah would give you 20% more run time that's all.

Will lower output charger extend battery life? Example.... will charging (force feeding) a 2 or 4 AH battery on a 550 watt charger shorten the battery life? Inverely, will charging a 7.5 battery last longer if charged an a smaller charger?
@TechMadeEzy6 ай бұрын
Hi Randall I will leave a video below on my tips I live by. I slow charge 99% if the time using my dual port 280w charger fast charging is it’s a 550 or 700w all the time will create more heat even though the chargers cool the battery while charging. Batteries are expensive and I want them to last and so far they have. And the battery size has nothing to do with charging it will just take longer because of the bigger size battery. Check out this video I share some more tips. TIPS EGO Battery Basics + TIPS kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWfJfqWeiM-geZo

So during storm season, I am keep my batteries fully charged in case of a power outage. How much life do you think I am taking away from the battery by doing that. Because at 30% thats not much back up emergency power. I just push my 3rd gen fuel gauge bottons once every couple of weeks during storm sesson to divert them ftom doing self maintenance. Thanks

Interesting - I just saw EGO comment on a FB post that rapid charging doesn't decrease battery life since that is dependent on the number of charge cycles (I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just sharing what EGO commented). I only have the rapid charger so I don't have a choice unless I purchase a new charger. Also, EGO stated that you should charge your battery after use and then remove it from the charger to store it. Then in the screenshot you showed from EGO, they say to store at 30% - 50% - I'm assuming that is long storage (not storing for weekly mowing)?

Is there any way to revive or repair batteries that don't hold a charge? I have so many old batteries that don't last very long when mowing.

Hi That could be the size of the battery. What size battery are you using? How many ah ?

@@TechMadeEzy I have both 2.5 and 5 AH.I think they have just degraded since I always fast charge and often leave them in the charger for weeks. I'm starting to see generic aftermarket batteries for sale so someone is refurbishing them. I wish there was a service to repair them.
