I'll tell ya clay, you do exactly what a bassist should do, you leave a distinct mark without distracting from anything else, you blend in, yet stand out at the same time. Not an easy line to walk.
@josetobias8084

Your words were perfect. Only of the one bassists I listen to a song with, and I can hear a distinct bass line and even point it out, even though I have no fucking idea "what a bass is" - never played one. That's a hard thing to accomplish for me as guitarist hearing music where I'm unconsciously focusing on the guitars all the time... you've said it very well.

@@josetobias8084you can hear bass in a lot of genres. i could go more in depth but basically, when you can't hear bass it's either your audio quality or you don't know how to listen for bass (which is just a matter of practice). but as a musician, i would recommend you to know how the bass sounds and what it does, otherwise your guitars will sound shitty. go watch rob scallon's video respect the bass. and watch davie or bass buzz or isolated bass tracks so you know what the instrument sounds like and what it adds to the music.
@josetobias8084
@josetobias8084 7 ай бұрын
@@salty_3k506oh, kinda old reply, sorry for that. Yeah, we have to know perfectly what a bass is, what it sounds like and everything - I was kind joking when I said I don't know what it is, just a common guitarist mind of locking on it 🤣. Thank you for the recommendations though, I did listen to Bass Buzz, and his videos are really fantastic - I did know Davie from before, slapping that bass. Just to close it out: I've been listening to jazz more and more, due to my studies and friends, and bass is really fantastic and fundamental - really mesmerizing. Didn't mean to offend anyone, just to express my little mind. 💗

@@RojCowles Yeah, that's actually true. But even Tim's yt channel is only at 700+K subs rn. He should've at least have like 3M subs and the rest of the members at least 1.5M to 2M subs. They're all underrated. I'm a also a musician btw and i've seen some really good bass players out there but if you look at Clay's technique it was really unique.

@@Chrysanthemums >700K subs is a truly impressive amount relatively. Both Steve Vai and Dream Theater have over 700k but under 800k. Even Deftones has only 928K.
