Although (almost) everyone is concentrating on Thomas’ voice (in Ariana’s role) as opposed to Egon’s voice (in Lady Gaga’s role), can we just take a moment to recognise that the second-last emphatic ‘me’ (sung as part of the emphatic line RAIN - ON - ME) is sung by Egon rather than by Thomas. This is the highest note in the entire song. In Egon’s case, it is sung in falsetto (as opposed to ‘natural’ voice), but it is there and it is sung ‘on point’. Well done, Egon. That note’s a hard one for most guys. Interestingly, this ‘role reversal’ - with Egon taking the higher note than Thomas - also reflects what is going on here in the original Lady Gaga / Ariana version. It’s actually Gaga - not Ariana - who sings the highest note in the entire song. Not many listeners are picking up on this - perhaps because it’s over in a flash, but that’s indeed the case. Anyhow, thanks, guys (Egon and Thomas), for a great cover. It’s one of the few covers out here on the net at the moment that actually gets the contrasts between the two voices right, whilst respecting the aesthetic of the original song. I’ve got the original ‘on repeat’ - as well as this cover. Can’t give you a better compliment than that. Love it. ❤️😸
