Well what ever it is... I have a same eGPU like that that use thunderbolt 3 minimum... Well if you have thunderbolt 4 or faster port that support 40Gbps it works too. Looks from the model of eGPU I believe its a Razer X aluminium btw

You forgot to mention that you won't be able to fully utilize the graphics card's power because, normally, when the card is connected to the computer (PCI), it achieves much higher data transfer speeds than Thunderbolt 3.

It's been a while since I did my research, but I remember that the only problem with alternatives to M.2 port is performance loss. Thunderbolt 3.0 (Type C) should have a 20% performance loss. While m.2 has only up to 5% or no loss at all.
