apologies for the crap video today this was suppose to be a big install to help but these things happen, I Just hope this may help some off you out there wanting todo the same to your fiesta mk6 diesel.

If you get an engine light come on and the code refers to a sticking or faulty EGR valve doing this wont cure the fault, inside the EGR valve motor are sensors that tell the ecu that the EGR valve has moved, if the sensors dont see that the EGR valve has opend or closed, it triggers the engine light, most people think the EGR valve is at fault, and sometimes it is, the mechanical part of the valve could be choked up with carbon, but in most cases the motor that pulls/pushes the mechanical part is faulty, as in my case, the motor turns as it turns it rasies or lowers the mechanical part of the valve, open / close if u like, the motor has sensors that tell the ecu that it has moved from close to open, if it dont make it, the ecu puts the engine light on, and gives u the code. always worth removing the 3 bolts that hold the motor on, remove it, u will see the pin in the egr valve turn it by hand and make sure it moves from end to end about a 1/4 turn, the motor does the same, offten the motor is sticky or stuck and cant move the valve, if i good clean dont get it moving smooth then replace the motor, if the mechanical part of the valve is sticky or stuck clean that too.

Sound yeah put a blank in and was getting that code just kept clearing it and it drove grand was just going to get the egr mapped out of the ecu anyways

Iv'e done this job few years ago on my fiesta tdci still going strong 5 years on lol i hated doing it too haha But good job mate very helpful

Does this effect the emissions on your mot?

@@Ben-bu2jg No not at all, MOT testers cant touch anything on your car, just look and test whats needed in a MOT. Mines been mapped off the car anyway few years ago now.

@@starliner6635 I Only installed one blanking plate like AJ Done in his video. Iv'e just seen on ebay theres a kit that blanks of both area's and you can remove the entire EGR Pipe and EGR it self.

@@starliner6635 Yeah mines been remapped i might remove my EGR now theres a kit like that that can block off the top part on the inlet. Think having that horrible egr pipe gone will look nice & clean behind the engine. might as well seeing its just sat there doing nothing now lol You blanked off your EGR & Got a remap?

Your been fine on MOT, but what about VOSA roadside checks possible large fine and impounded and worse, in the event of a crash insurance company will check everything and your screwed if found.

So if I do the EGR blank am I going to get the black smoke out of the exhaust or not? Because I want the smoke on a MK6 Fiesta

Yeah you probably will get abit smoke out the exhaust. Want more smoke bigger injectors and remove a boost pipe lol that creates alot of smoke 😂

I have a fiesta Zetec s tdci, found it handy unplugging the maf sensor and she “reeks” everywhere

Yeah I assume you can do it to any diesel car.

Dont do it on the Volvos with the same engine. Esp goes off for some reason and you get the message ( stabilization control system service).

@@teelicht2319 the only way is to remap the ECU, which is a pain in the @ss. The ecu is placed under the right fender and its sealed. The only way to read or write is via BDM and not obd, this means you have to open the ecu, tune the file, write your new file, reseal it, and then install it back again. If you decide so dont use programs like adl egr remover because it deletes all the dtc tables. If you blank it you will get the dtcs i described in my comment above.

Talking out yo azz, of course you can touch them how else can you check the bearings for play? Blow on it?

Isnt that the half arsed way? seen as you have put all the effort in, why didnt you remove the value and the cooler/ pipe work? I mean you have done all the work seems kinda daft? their way it will need remapping out before MOT day as it will bring on the engine light, also have you changed the fuel filter... would have been worth doing while you have access, now you will have to go in there again.. this is why its worth thinking about work and doing it all in one go.. 80k on the same fuel filter potentially.. not good.

No point removing the entire egr bit yet. Only have 1 blanking plate will need to blank the top part where the pipe goes into the top. Keeping it plugged in for now to keep the engine light off so the ecu still thinks it's connected. I did mention this in the video. As for the fuel filter. Wasn't a job on my list todo that day or just yet as its not recommended to be changed just yet... Don't need to create work that's not needed at the time. But thanks for you input!

@@ajfocus no worries, guess it makes sense to go back in there again and put the second plate in, then you could put it all back together, just to test the engine light then go back in and remove it all, get it remapped then go back in and change the fuel filter.. Yes my bad it makes perfect sense.

Yeah no worries bud, But Once it's been mapped off the car I can then remove it, wasn't any point at the time as I said before keeping it plugged in to trick the ecu & still need to get a blank for the top part. The fuel filter is easy to get to takes 2 seconds to remove the airbox to access that area.
