Here is a link for the CLEANER:

And for US consumers, where diesel fuel quality is pretty bad, this cetane booster might help you with lot's of headaches!

That's excellent explanation also I'm using super clean I tested at 3 times and always put clean super clean when it's dirty. %100 working but I don't wait 1/2 hr I wait 2 hrs and refresh super clean after that like 6 hrs after cleaning with hot or warm water I prefer hot water and wait 1 hr each 3 times that regular water pushing out to in opposite direction with clean water it worked now my truck is 285K again I will clean it.

Great video! So - not mentioned - but is this the time to change heater hoses? Also what is the sensor in the cross pipe - if you use the cleaner to to clean the pipe will it damage the sensor? Thanks

I know better to clean but honestly I have only changed my crank case filter and run hot shot fuel additive. I’ve never had any issues. I tow our fifth wheel trailer about 4,000 miles every year across country. Don’t idle for long periods. I really think cleaning it is just overkill but I understand if people do it. Maybe clean EGR every 5 years and replace crank case filter every 65k I don’t think you should have to clean EGR cooler.

I had a 6.2L V8 Detroit diesel engine and went to replace the glow plugs as part of regular maintenance and one had so much soot on it that it looked like a lollipop 🍭. Absolutely refused to come out.

Is anyone flushing the crossover tube to clean it? If so, would it be wise to remove the electronic sensor?

So we want to combat pollution... lets make a system where we have to ship (on diesel trucks) 66% water and 34% amonia in disposable plastic jugs all over north America. Problem solved!

@@TDRAuto I am at the point I just tell non cdl trucking companies just to buy gasoline powered trucks. Save $20,000 on purchase buy 2x more gas. At 200k mi replace motor for $10,000. Or pay tow bills, down time, hotel stays and repairs. Most cummins last 200k mi until it is not cost effective. That is why Uhaul only has a gasoline fleet.

@@TDRAuto Well, I can tell ya those 2 nuts are keeping me from tearing into this job. INTIMIDATING TO SAY THE LEAST!! Hell, I can't even see the damn things. Getting them off is one thing, trying to feel around in a hole you can't even see into to thread those things on to a post that I may not be able to reach is another. I'd like to see someone film that because it looks impossible.

Perhaps this maintenance isn't mentioned in the owner's manual ... but is that really important? The important thing is that the 6.7L Cummins ISBs used to power certain HD Ram trucks (prior to 2013) are definitely affected by various soot buildup issues: and the EGR Cooler is definitely one of those items. How do I know? Because my 2012 Cummins Ram 2500 is in the service department of our regional Ram dealer as I type this. Why? Because soot buildup in the engine's EGR Cooler has practically disabled the truck. By the way, my truck has well under 50K miles on it. If you want to know more details, feel free to reply and I'll try to assist you.

Timberwright Svs Just curious, has your heater grid been plugged as well? And do you have a lot of idle time?
@timberwrightsvs480
@timberwrightsvs480 5 жыл бұрын
@@TDRAuto The service tech has told us that the EGR Cooler is cracked, which [supposedly] explains the white smoke and the extremely rough idling we're presently experiencing. We live in a very cold mountainous climate, so, we take short trips on slow mountain roads and, yes, the truck idles to both light up our work (at night) and to provide safe shelter so we don't freeze to death in the winter nights. As we can't afford the dealer repairs -- which are extraordinarily expensive -- we are being forced to modify the truck. Our case says a lot about the EPA and their fuel-wasting emissions requirements. I'd appreciate any thoughts you might be willing to offer. Thank you for the reply. By the way, the service tech told us that the intake grid heater could use a cleaning -- but that it IS NOT plugged up.
@TDRAuto
@TDRAuto 5 жыл бұрын
Timberwright Svs Seems like you only have 2 options, every few months remove the EGR bypass tube and inspect the outlet of the cooler for plugging. Remove it and clean it if plugged. Or because of your extreme cold conditions do EGR/DPF delete which is ilegal on US roads. It might help if you use cetane booster regularly. Like the one here. amzn.to/2RjDnZY

@@TDRAuto I appreciate the thoughtful response, TDR, but we're being told that damn near every item in the emissions system has to be replaced: EGR Cooler, EGR Valve, Delta Switch, O2 Sensor, Catalytic Converter, DEF and the entire exhaust system. This comes to over $13,000 USD! ... and it leads me to believe that we only have (1) choice. I mean, honestly, if you own a truck that's now worth $30K -- at the most -- are you going to pay nearly half its value to bring it back to the factory specifications that will [eventually] put us on the side of the highway again? We spent our money when we purchased the truck, so, once again, there only seems to be one choice. If you have any thoughts on that one choice, I'd really like to read about it. Thanks very much for your words and Merry Christmas to you.

By the way, other than the stubby 8 mm wrench shown in your EGR Cooler removal video, are there any other unusual or exotic tools required to remove the EGR system? I'm being told that there's a nut on the rear of the EGR that's very difficult to remove. Once again, your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

If I get the ccv deleted will I have to clean the egr filter? Use my truck for work, 16 hour days. Leaving it in the shop for a week is not an option at the moment.
@TDRAuto

I don't see real benefit removing CCV filter and it will not prevent the exhaust gasses passing the cooler. You might also notice oil vapor smell entering the cabin after the delete.

These coolers crack on the inside, this will allow coolant going through to the intake without you noticing. Did you gain access to the outlet of the cooler to see signs of water/coolant?

Monster RAM You'd be suprised how many coolers I've seen plugged up, they came in with loss of power issues. Usually from extending idling. TechConnect has a cooler cleaning recomendations every 80k up untill 2013 model years. Still a lot cheaper to clean it then replace it.
