This video is a godsend! I've had EGR issues recently with my EGR valve - almost exactly the same model but I have the 2.4 DI (not 2.4 TDDi), plus it's a minibus. I am so grateful for you going through this in good detail on (basically) the same vehicle I have. It has clarified so much for me that I can now get to work and sort it out - thanks a lot!

Also, what kind of diagnostic code reader did you use to find the engine fault codes? I've tried a conventional OBDII but from what the interweb tells me, certain Ford models around 2001/2002 weren't made to be fully compatible with OBDII readers at that time and only later models were. I tried one of the bluetooth elm readers but didn't have any luck so want to maybe I got the wrong kind. What did you use? Thanks in advance - amazing videos and channel!!!!

If you want a cheap scan tool, you can get an ELM327 I think it's called USB to obd 2 interface and then download for scan... It's extremely budget friendly and for older transits it's basically a main dealer diagnostic tool, it's also capable of programming new modules if you ever need to. I use a pro grade autel, but it works on many different brands and models and is 600 pound!

Great videos. I am surprised you don't have more subs. Just wish you had a Mk7 like I do then these videos would be even more helpful.

We have a few videos on the mk7 I believe and possibly more to come on the future!

Not sure if i have the same issue. Had a few issues that pointed towards the turbo, ive changed that and its still smoking and low on power. The EGR is still there, despite a previous owner 'deleting' it.
@maxautoukКүн бұрын
If an EGR delete is done poorly it often reduces the power and efficiency of the engine and can make it run poorly.. but youd have to make a real mess of it for that to happen

Excellent video, I’m currently sat in a lay-by waiting for the RAC and I’m almost certain this is the problem, no power, lots of black smoke and soot all around the egr, so guess what il be doing when they finally get me home.

I hope you get it sorted soon!!

Will the van start?
@BigButtocks9673 жыл бұрын
Yeah starts fine but won’t Rev past 3000rpm, and is chugging black smoke, the egr valve is coated in black soot?
@maxautouk3 жыл бұрын
Ah yeah thats good, transits have similar symptoms when the fuel pump dies but if it starts then you're golden :)

I noticed you ddin't use/make a gasket for the EGR pipe? I've been on the hunt to try and find one. Is it advisable to leave it out? Thanks
@maxautouk Жыл бұрын
Hi there thanks for the comment, I've done quite a lot of these now and I've never seen a gasket, but with that being said I'm not sure if there should be one or not so if you find out one way or the other let me know 👍🏼

Just bought a 2003, 2.4 DI diesel, 17 seater minibus, 90 T350. Im not sure if its a mrk 5 or 6 ?? Can you confirm ?? Liked the vid as im going to do a full service and will look at cleaning the egr ! Think ill use oven cleaner !!
@maxautouk2 жыл бұрын
Oven cleaner leaves a film so I'd recommend using carburettor cleaner instead! Costs the same and it doesn't cause any future issues 😁 In rare cases the oven cleaner can eat the seal between the egr piston and the vacuum actuator diaphragm

Hi. I've got a machanic changing the EGR valve. For some reason while doing this he has soaked the whole engine with engine oil. Not sure if he knows what he is doing. Is this a normal thing that happens when changing or is he messing up my van? Thanks.
@maxautouk2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks got the comrnent, sounds unusual to me, if it was on an mk6 transit there is no reason at all for any oil to spill, let alone a significant ammount If he had cleaned the egr it might just be spillover of the hydrocarbons he cleaned out if he was untidy... But if he had done the work and the van is running right then why not trust him 😁
@mazavelitelly3972 жыл бұрын
@@maxautouk he spent 5hrs on it today and he told me he is still not half way yet. He wants to work on it more tomorrow. I'm just a bit worried as there was no oil leak before and so much oil all over engine now.
