Your nails did look really pretty like that. It was cool to see her draped over the sage brush like that. She is such a pretty snake. She looks pretty happy in there.

My dear PaleScales... Here's a little FYI about the Egyptian False, considering the over/under reaction about "rear-fang" colubrids. Although one of my favorite species and quiet beautiful in their indifferent style, the venom toxicity yields recently studied are comparable to the Walterinnesia genus, known as the black desert cobras. Endemic to the same terrain and region in the Middle East. More Haemorrhagin effect, however, than neurotoxin. The good news lies in the fact that their mouths and middle fangs can't grip to a wide open strike range and seldom strike like the docile Beaked Snakes, which also have underrated venom toxicity. Great set up and video, though.

I own a pair of Malpolon Moilensis. And for advice, they come from the Middle East. They come from the harsh deserts and are one of the very few reptiles that benefit from being kept on a mixture of sand and clay. They need the mixture to be moist enough to build underground tunnels but not enough to spike humidity. I personally keep my pair on substrate 7- 10 inches deep. And they have made insanely deep and extravagant tunnels. I keep my hot spot at 115°f and the cold end room temp so that they have the choice to thermo regulate but I have found they never leave the hot end. So im going to change that set up to where the entire enclosure is at 90 and the hot end around 120°f in the coming months. Mine refuse to drink from water bowls, so I have a waterfall on the cool end and 3 times a week I drop water on their heads and they drink that way. Personally, I found to stop nose rubbing, which will happen, is to give them much larger enclosures than what you think they need. Mine will eventually be moved to a custom built 10ftX6ftX3ft. I know it sounds like a giant enclosure, and it is. They are racer like snakes. They need an absurd amount of space or they will bang and rub their noses to the point they get bad infections. Also, most of them are imported so you will need to treat them for parasites.

Thank you so much for all the advice!!! What medication do you recommend treating them with that is safe?
@pandafish35224 жыл бұрын
As I am not a vet I can’t accurately give advice on that. But I can tell you, to go to a very knowledgeable exotics vet in your state that specializes in snakes, most notably rear fanged and venomous reptiles. They know more than your average every day vet and some medications that one less experienced vet may advise can potentially kill your snake. I hear around the grape vine Flagyl is good for some treatments. But not to sure personally. There are communities online such as the reptiles and exotics amino, where people come together and talk and share their knowledge about reptiles. There’s a member on there that has owned these snakes before and can tell you more than I can. If you join there, her username is SnekBones.
@pandafish35224 жыл бұрын
Oh I forgot to add, medications depend on what parasites the snakes may carry too. The best thing is just to see the vet and request blood work and fecal exams.

Loved this all and your nails are fire for sure not gonna lie my jaw dropped a bit when I saw them. I have two FWC named after Octavia & Lincoln from the tv show the 100. Been thinking about getting some FEC but I have to get the cages first and your video really helped. I love the "hate/love relationship" you have for that cactus. I like it, it looks good in there keep it.

I was able to collect several of these in northern Saudi Arabia and Iraq back in 1990/91 and found them to be fairly docile even as wild caught. My wife just procured one for me in October. Wish there was more info out there. We need more captive breeding.
